American Cancer Society’s Resources & Events (w/ Casey Eller | American Cancer Society)

Hi, everyone! This is Heidi Payne
with the Bluefield Group! And today I’m talking with Casey
Eller with the American Cancer Society, and she’s going to talk about
the resources that are available here in Greenville, some upcoming
events, and how you can get involved. So, Casey, tell us about the resources that American Cancer Society has locally for cancer patients here in Greenville. Yeah! So, a lot of people know the
resources that American Cancer Society does and the impact they do nationally, but some people don’t know
what we do locally here in Greenville. We actually have a Patient Care Suite
that patients can come in and get fitted for free wigs. They can get a wig cap,
as well as…we have port covers. We also have a Personal Health Manager that gives them information for their specific type of cancer. So, it’s really great for them to come in,
get the information they need, talk to our great staff that’s
willing to help them… Heidi: That’s nice…I like that.
Casey: Yeah! And are there any events that are
happening locally that people can get involved in? Yes! We actually have an event
coming up on October 7th. That’s our ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.’ And it’s mainly for our breast cancer
survivors, and it’s a great time in our community to celebrate those
survivors and honor those who we’ve lost. Very nice! That sounds like a lot of fun too! Casey: It is! It’s a party! Party all the way Downtown!
Heidi: Oooh, I love that! And you can bring your dog! You can bring your dog! We actually, this year, are walking by
our Cancer Survivor Park that just opened up in Greenville. And it’s a beautiful park,
and we go through Cleveland Park, and it actually starts near the Peace Center. So, it’s a great time just be around the beautiful Casey: Downtown of Greenville…
Heidi: Absolutely! …as well as really good experience
at Cancer Survivor Park. Oh, I hope there’s good weather for that! Oh, I do too! Tell us how we can get in contact with you. So, our local office is off of Pelham Road.
So, it’s really easy to access off of I-85. You also can call our local office number. It’s 864-627-8289. And if you need any more information,
you can visit our cancer.org webpage and you can get information nationally or locally. Casey: It’s a great resource!
Heidi: Oh nice! That’s nice. So, Casey, I’m not sure if you know of my story, but I am a recent cancer survivor
and American Cancer Society has really touched my life…and it’s
touched the lives of my loved ones. So, when I became a realtor,
I decided that my way to give back is to donate $200 out of every closing that I do
to our local chapter of American Cancer Society, because you guys are awesome,
and helped to make my life a lot easier during my really tough times. So… …here is a check for you… …and hopefully it can get to
some people that really need it. And I know that you’ve changed my life, and I know that there [are] a lot of
lives out there that need help as well. So, hopefully this will help with that… And we’re so excited to partner
with you over the next couple of months. And just you making this donation is
going to impact the Greenville community so much as well as our partnership
with The Bluefield Group in the future. Wonderful! Well, we’re super
excited to have you here today! Thank you so much for talking
about all the events coming up! If you guys would like to get involved, please reach out to the
American Cancer Society here in Greenville, or you can contact us here at The Bluefield Group. We, also, are interested in
hearing any thoughts or comments that you have about anything
that has to do with real estate, or if you have any suggestions
about other nonprofits in the area… …please feel free to reach out to us! Thank you so much for tuning in today,
and we’ll see you next time!
