My name is Angel and I’m in the HVAC
program at Moore Norman Technology Center. Since I graduated, I came here
using a tuition waiver. It’s been extremely helpful. I’d say the refrigeration process and the electrical is the most interesting. Being able to work on equipment here it’s just really a valuable experience.
We have all kinds of things like this packaging right here, these little
trainers; there are just like, many refrigeration units. We’ve also got sheet metal here; we’ve got electrical in the classroom. At the end of this class
we have to do this ICE exam and then we won’t be like, done with our apprenticeship just yet, there’s still about a year or so that we have to do. When
we actually get a job. But when we’re done with the ICE exam we’re pretty much done with this class. I’m already an apprentice, so with this class you can cut your apprenticeship time from down for like, one year here is worth
like, two years. So instead of doing two years out on the job we can spend
like just one year here. I want to try a turn with a bigger company first just to see if I can. Early in the year we were taught how to do resumes, so now be able to apply for jobs. I don’t regret joining this class one
bit it’s just been really good overall. Like, the teacher of the class and everyone’s been nice. The availability of jobs for HVAC makes it really easy to go pretty much
wherever you want, really. Like even if I wanted to do I’d be able to find a job
probably instantly. I came into this program knowing nothing. Nothing nothing at all and afterwards I can say I can just go out and work. Even with things I don’t know, I can quickly touch-up upon because I have the foundational
knowledge to go off of.
