I’m Susan Salyards, Executive Director for the Beaver County Humane Society. We do adoptions, surrenders, animal control and take in and more than 4,000 animals a year. Animals are my passion and it’s such a service and need for our community. As a grassroots organization, I do struggle finding time for fundraising. Basically, I’m the development person. I’ve used software different from Salsa such as Raiser’s Edge, but what I love about Salsa is the ease of use regardless if you have somebody who is very well versed in data management or somebody who’s stepping in to working with software for the first time, they can feel equally as comfortable. We get many honorary and memorial gifts in memory of both pets and people. Salsa CRM gives us the ability to track both the people and the relationships. We love the new Salsa Engage platform! The interface is clean and intuitive and now everything we send out is mobile friendly. We use it to send very targeted emails to our constituents, to post new adoptions on social media, and for online fundraising for emergency situations. One of the beauties of Salsa Engage is that it does save time and resources and we can launch a campaign quickly. Recently we had a situation where we had to seize 65 animals from a home as part of a cruelty investigation. Right away we were able to launch a campaign to rally the community for this emergency appeal. Since we’ve been using Salsa we’ve seen our online gifts double at the same time we have been able to increase our adoption rate by 110% and decrease our euthanasia rate by 50%. As a nonprofit organization there are many challenges that we face one of which is making sure that we’re being as cost-effective as possible. It’s very important to our donors and constituents that their donor dollars go to support the mission of the organization and the animals that we serve. Being able to use a comprehensive system like Salsa allows us to meet that part of our mission!
