“Bridge Card” :60 (Welfare Fraud)

MAN: I had a Bridge Card for food benefits, which
really helped us through some tough times. Then, I decided to trade my benefits for cash. I figured that way I could buy anything, not
just the food and drinks I was supposed to get. I figured, who’s it gonna hurt? Me, that’s who. I was disqualified from the program and lost
my Bridge Card. Now without the benefits, it’s a lot harder
to make ends meet. ANNOUNCER: Buying, selling or trading Bridge Card food
benefits is a felony, and if you commit this crime, you can lose all your food
assistance benefits. Any person or retailer who helps you will
face penalties as well. So use your Bridge Card benefits right. Because if you don’t, you’re the one
who pays. MAN: Yeah, tell me about it. ANNOUNCER: To learn more about the right way to use
your Bridge Card benefits, go to Michigan.gov/welfarefraud. That’s Michigan.gov/welfarefraud. A message from the Michigan Department of
Health and Human Services.
