THE 101 ALSO SLOW IN THAT AREA BUT AT LEAST LANES ARE OPEN. WE CAN SHOW YOU THE IMPACT WITH WAZE. WAZE GIVES US REAL TIME DRIVING CONDITIONS. YOU ARE DOWN TO 10 MILES PER HOUR IN THIS AREA. LOOKING LIKE A PARKING LOT. SO WAZE IS SAYING ALLOW YOURSELF AN EXTRA 40 MINUTES TO GET AROUND THIS AREA. AND SIDE STREETS LIKE SEPULVEDA WILL BE IMPACTED. THEY’RE GOING TO TAKE THE BRUNT OF THAT TRAFFIC. THE TRAFFIC NOT BEING ALLOWED ONTO THE 405. THIS IS WHERE THE BACKUP STARTS FROM IF BEFORE VICTORY YOU SEE IT LOOK LIKE A PARKING LOT, THAT 405 SOUTHBOUND. NORTHBOUND IS OPEN AT THIS TIME BUT THAT COULD CHANGE AT ANY MOMENT. MEGHAN REYES IS IN NEWSCHOPPER 4 ALPHA OVER THE 405, OVER THE CLOSURE. MAYBE YOU CAN TELL US IF SEPULVEDA IS MOVING AS AN ALTERNATE, MEGHAN?>>Reporter: WE’RE LOOKING TO SEE IF THEY’RE SHUTTING DOWN THE 405 FREEWAY. THEY HAVE NOT SHUT DOWN LANES YET, BUT ANYTHING CAN CHANGE. SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD IS SHUTDOWN BEFORE GETTY CENTER. YOU CAN SEE ALL THESE FOLKS TRYING TO USE SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD AS AN ALTERNATE, THEY’RE FORCED BACK ONTO THE FREEWAY. LISTEN TO ALYSHA DEL VALLE, SHE’S GOING TO GET YOU AROUND THIS BUT YOU WANT TO AVOID THE 405. ALTERNATE ROUTES YOU CAN CONSIDER USING THE CANYON ROADS BUT EXPECT ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC THIS MORNING. FIREFIGHTERS WERE EXPECTED TO GIVE US AN UPDADE AND WE UNDERSTAND THAT IS PUSHED BACK TO 7:15.>>RIGHT NOW 2,600 PEOPLE ARE WITHOUT POWER DUE TO THIS FIRE. LAPD ON CITYWIDE TACTICAL ALERT AS YOU SAW THERE GOING DOOR TO DOOR GETTING EVERYONE OUT AND ALSO TRYING TO PROTECT HOMES. CHP IS ASKING DRIVERS TO AVOID THE 405 FREEWAY RIGHT NOW NEAR THE GETTY CENTER. HUGE BACKUPS IN AND AROUND THIS AREA. THEY NEED THAT AREA TO MANEUVER AND RIGHT NOW SOUTHBOUND LANES ARE SHUT DOWN. THE GETTY CENTER MUSEUM HAVE NOW ACTIVATED THEIR EMERGENCY OPERATIONS, BUT THIS IS A FIRE THAT WE HAVE WATCHED SINCE 3:00 THIS MORNING, SINCE WE HAVE BEEN ON THE AIR JUST EXPLODE IN SIZE AND A LOT OF SMOKE, AS WELL.>>THE FIRE IS MOVING IN A WESTWARD DIRECTION. THE EVACUATION ZONE CHANGING THROUGHOUT THE MORNING AND THIS IS THE LATEST MANDATORY EVACUATION ZONE THAT WE HAVE. TAMASCO CANYON ROAD TO THE WEST AND THE EAST BORDER AND MULHOLLAND DRIVE THE SOUTH BORDER. AS WE JUST MENTIONED, THIS KEEPS CHANGING THROUGHOUT THE MORNING AND WE’RE HEARING FROM PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT HAVE BEEN EVACUATED THAT IS TRICKY TO GET OUT BECAUSE THE STREETS ARE NARROW AND WINDING AND SINGLE-LANE ROADS AND A LOT OF FIRE ENGINES AND APPARATUS OUT THERE AND A LOT OF SMOKE, AS WELL, AS YOU CAN SEE ON YOUR SCREEN.>>VISIBILITY REALLY LOW AND POWER THAT IS NOT WORKING. YOU THINK YOU MAY KNOW A BACK WAY, THAT MAY BE CLOSED. YOU NEED TO GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO MANEUVER AND GET TO SAFETY. WE HAVE CREWS SPREAD ALL OVER. LET’S GO TO ANNETTE ARREOLA ON TIGER TAIL ROAD WATCHING SOME OF THESE HOUSES, SADLY, ANNETTE, BURN TO THE GROUND. LET’S GO TO YOU FOR THE LATEST.>>GOOD MORNING, DANIELLA. I BELIEVE I JUST LOST IFB RIGHT NOW. CELL SERVICE IS EXTREMELY SPOTTY. I CAN TELL YOU THAT HAS ALSO BEEN AN ISSUE OUT HERE. BUT, AGAIN, WE SEE A LOT OF CAMERA CREWS AND A LOT OF FIREFIGHTERS. THIS IS THE HOUSE THAT WE WERE TUCKED IN A LITTLE WHILE AGO BECAUSE, AGAIN, THESE POWER LINES UP HERE WE HAVE BEEN TOLD, THEY’RE NOT SURE WHETHER THEY HAVE BEEN DEENERGIZED OR NOT AND THIS HOME RIGHT OVER HERE, WE CAN GO AHEAD AND DO A LITTLE TURN, JEFF. THIS WAS RIGHT HERE. WE NOTICED AS WE WERE GOING DOWN THE HILL HAS A COUPLE OF EMBERS BURNING RIGHT BENEATH IT. SO, AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, THEY ARE PULLING HOSE LINES TRYING TO MAKE SURE THEY CAN PUT OUT THOSE FIRES. SEE THAT, JEFF, RIGHT THERE. SEE SOME OF THAT SMOKE COMING FROM THE CANYON RIGHT OVER THERE. THAT IS ALSO AN AREA OF CONCERN FROM THERE. THEY SPREAD OUT SO MANY RESOURCES. YOU CAN SEE THE FIRES OVER THERE BURNING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CANYON. THEY HAVE SO MANY RESOURCES OUT HERE. SO SPREAD OUT. WHEN THEY’RE FIGHTING ONE FIRE, ANOTHER ONE SORT OF CREEPS UP. THIS HOUSE OVER HERE THAT WE HAVE SHOWN YOU FROM LAST PROBABLY TWO HITS, STILL, STILL HAS ACTIVE FLAMES. THEY’RE STILL DOUSING IT RIGHT NOW. THEY JUST CAN’T PUT IT OUT. THEY’VE BEEN WORKING ON THIS ONE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE LAST 45 TO AN HOUR OR SO. AND, AGAIN, MOTHER NATURE NOT GIVING THEM A BREAK AT ALL. YOU CAN SEE OVER HERE, JEFF, IF YOU MAYBE WALK A LITTLE BIT FURTHER DOWN. THESE FIREFIGHTERS GOING IN RIGHT HERE. AGAIN, PULLING THEIR HOSE LINE. JUST TRYING TO GET THE FLAMES FROM THE INSIDE. YOU CAN SEE THE SCORCHED SHELL OF THIS HOUSE AND JUST WHAT IS REALLY LEFT OF AN UNFORTUNATE, UNFORTUNATE SITUATION. WE’VE SPOKEN WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE EVACUATED THEIR HOMES AND MANY OF THEM ARE GLUED TO THE TV SETS RIGHT NOW FROM AN EVACUATION CENTER OR A FRIEND’S HOUSE OR A RELATIVE’S HOME TRYING TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE COMING BACK TO IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD. AGAIN, THESE FIRES WE SEE ONE HOUSE SPARED. THE ONE RIGHT NEXT TO IT, COMPLETELY DESTROYED. SO ON AND SO FORTH. SO, AGAIN, JUST GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THIS ALL WHEN FOLKS COME BACK TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. L.A. CITY FIRE PULLING IN SO MANY RESOURCES AND NOW THAT THEY HAVE DAY BREAK THEY’LL HAVE EVEN MORE AIRCRAFT COMING OUT MAKING SURE THAT THEY CAN REALLY BATTLE THIS FIRE. WE HEAR THE CHOPPERS RIGHT ABOVE US HERE. YEP, THAT’S WHAT WE’RE HEARING. WE’RE HEARING CHOPPERS FLYING ABOVE US AND TRYING TO PUT OUT THE SPOT FIRES IN THE CANYON TO THE LEFT OF US AND ALSO RIGHT BEHIND THESE HOMES TO THE RIGHT OF US. ADRIAN AND DANIELLA.>>THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US ALL OF THAT. FIREFIGHTERS DOING A GREAT JOB OUT THERE BUT SO MUCH WORK LEFT TO DO. ALSO SEEING THE AIR STRIKES STILL HAPPENING AS THE SUN COMES UP. WE WANT TO GET YOU THE LATEST INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AT HOME ASKING ABOUT SCHOOL CLOSURES. JUST GETTING AN UPDATE IN VENTURA COUNTY. K THROUGH 12 PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED FOR TODAY. MAN THESE L.A. WILDFIRES AREN’T NO JOKE. HAD TO EMERGENCY EVACUATE MY HOUSE AND I’VE BEEN DRIVING AROUND WITH MY FAMILY TRYING TO GET A PLACE TO STAY. HE UPDATED SAYING HE FOUND A PLACE TO STAY AND THANKED OUR FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE JOB THEY’RE DOING.>>VIEW FROM THE PORCH OF OUR L.A. HOME BRUSH FIRE WEST OF THE 405. LAFD ALERTED AND WINDS ARE FIERCE. VERY DENSELY POPULATED AREA AND POWER ALSO OUT.>>LUCKILY THEY HAVE A PLACE TO GO TO. A LOT OF OUR VIEWERS HEADED OUT TO SOME OF THE SHELTERS IN THE COMMUNITY. WE HAVE THOSE LISTED ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SCREEN, AS WELL. BUT WE WANT TO SHOW YOU THIS VIDEO YOU’RE SEEING JUST INTO OUR NEWSROOM FROM A VIEWER JEN WILKINS SENT IT TO US. THIS VIDEO WAS TAKEN HE WAS DRIVING BY AND THE FLAMES REALLY SCARY TO SEE. RIGHT AT THE EDGE OF THE 405 FROM EARLIER THIS MORNING. SEE HOW CLOSE IT GOT TO THE FREEWAY LANES AS IT BURNS UPHILL. THE PLUMES OF THE SMOKE JUST FILLED THE AIR. THIS WAS AT AROUND 3:00, 4:00 IN THE MORNING WHAT WAS REALLY INTENSE CLOSE TO THE FREEWAY.>>SIMILAR SCENE BY NBC’S OWN MICHAEL DUARTE. ORANGE FLAMES SHOOTING UP FROM THE DARK SKY RIGHT ON THE SIDE OF THE 405. THE MAJOR LANDMARK, THE GETTY CENTER AND PARTS OF THE 405 SET TO BE SHUT DOWN VERY SHORTLY IF THEY HAVEN’T ALREADY. YOU CAN SEE THE FIRE LIGHTING UP THE HILLSIDE THERE. THEY’RE SEEI,AGN, JT A A L OF PT VERY SCARY SIATION. YOU IGINE YOUE DRIVING ON E 405 ANDHISOPS UP AND IT JUST EXPLODES.>>JUST LIKE A WAR ZONE. THIS IS WHY THEY CLOSED MANY OF THESE STREETS. RIGHT NOW, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE WINDS AND METEOROLOGIST ANTHONY YANEZ.>>YOU’VE SEEN OUR HELICOPTER SHOTS AND THIS IS THE CLASSIC SANTA ANA PATTERN. YOU SEE VAN NUYS 24 MILES PER HOUR MOVING FROM THE NORTHWEST, EXCUSE ME, FROM THE NORTHEAST TO THE SOUTHWEST. THE FIRE IS RIGHT ABOUT HERE. RIGHT ON THE OUTER EDGE. SO, IT’S MOVING TOWARD PARTS OF SANTA MONICA AND ALSO MALIBU. THAT’S WHAT THINGS ARE LOOKING LIKE RIGHT NOW. AS FAR AS THE WIND GUSTS GO, 36 MILES PER HOUR IN VAN NUYS OFF IN THAT DIRECTION. THAT IS JUST UP TO THE NORTH OF THE FIRE. IT’S INTERESTING. THE WINDS ARE REALLY STRONG IN THAT SANTA ANA PRONE AREA UP IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY. YOU HEAD WHERE THE GETTY FIRE IS AND THE 405 FREEWAY. THESE WINDS HAVE JUST GOTTEN LIGHTER REALLY SINCE THE FIRE STARTED. STARTED OUT WITH 35-MILE-PER-HOUR GUSTS WHEN THE FIRE STARTED AND SLOWLY INCHING DOWN AS WE MOVED A LITTLE CLOSER TO SUNRISE. HERE IS THE ISSUE. THIS HAS GONE UP A LITTLE BIT IN BRENTWOOD. THE HUMIDITY IS IN THE TEENS. SO, EVERYTHING IS JUST TINDER DRY IN THIS AREA. THE TOPOGRAPHY WITH ALL THE MOUNTAINS HERE. THAT FIRE WAS ABLE TO START AND THEN SPREAD RAPIDLY, DESPITE THE TEMPERATURES IN THE 50s. IT REMINDS ME A LOT OF THE WOOLSEY FIRE AND THE SAME THING WITH THE THOMAS FIRE TWO YEARS AGO WHERE TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 50s. HERE’S WHERE WE’RE GOING TO BE IN THE NEXT HOUR. SOME WINDS COMING TO THE 405. THIS IS WHAT ANNETTE WAS TALKING ABOUT. AT TIMES STRONG GUSTS BECAUSE IT IS FUNNELING THROUGH THE 405 BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS EVEN THOUGH FOR THE MOST PART IN GENERAL THE LIGHTER WINDS AND OFF TO THE WEST, THEY’RE STRONGER. MUCH STRONGER, ESPECIALLY AS YOU GET CLOSER TO MALIBU. HERE WE ARE AT7:00 THIS MORNING AND MOVE TOWARDS 8:00. NOT MUCH CHANGES. 9:00 WE START TO SEE A LITTLE CLEARING OR LITTLE LIGHTNING OF THE WINDS IN THIS PARTICULAR AREA AND BY 10:00 GOES DOWN A LITTLE BIT MORE. BUT IT DOES STAY STRONG OFF TO THE WEST OF THIS FIRE. THAT IS A BIG CONCERN THAT THIS FIRE IS ABLE TO GROW AT ALL INTO THIS AREA. BACK TO YOU.>>ANTHONY, THANK YOU. GETTING READY FOR A NEWS CONFERENCE HERE FROM FIREFIGHTERS. YOU CAN SEE MAYOR GARCETTI IS THERE, AS WELL. LET’S LISTEN IN.>>FIRST OF ALL, LET ME THANK THE MEN AND WOMEN ON THE FIRE LINE RIGHT NOW. VISITING THEM AND SEEING SOME OF THE FLAMES DIRECTLY. AT 1:34 THIS MORNING WE HAD A FIRE THAT BROKE OUT ADJACENT TO THE 405 FREEWAY AND SEPULVEDA PASS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE SEPULVEDA PASS. WE CAN CONFIRM THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING CAUSED BY ENCAMPMENT, BUT THE CAUSE IS FURTHER UNDER INVESTIGATION. WE HAVE SOME INITIAL INFORMATION THAT WE’LL BE SHARING LATER IN THE DAY. THIS IS A FIRE THAT QUICKLY SPREAD. IT IS NOW OVER 500 ACRES. BUT WE LUCKILY HAD A LOT OF AMAZING HEROES THAT WERE IN OUR FIRE STATIONS WHO ROLLED OUT IMMEDIATELY. OVER 500 FIREFIGHTERS ON THE LINE RIGHT NOW IN SOME OF THE MOST CHALLENGING TOPOGRAPHY OF LOS ANGELES. I PERSONALLY SAW FIVE HOMES THAT ARE ON TIGER TAIL THAT HAVE BEEN LOST. BUT I SAW THEM HOLDING THE LINE THERE AND THAT HAS NOT SPREAD FURTHER IN THE LAST COUPLE HOURS AND MAYBE ONE OR TWO HOMES ACROSS THE CANYON OVER ON THE RIDGE OF CANTER CANYON. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE HAD FOR THE LAST FEW HOURS, OBVIOUSLY, ALL OF THE AIR SUPPORT THAT WE CAN USE AT NIGHTTIME, WHICH IS OUR HELICOPTERS MAKING DROPS DOING AMAZING WORK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND WITH DAY BREAK WE HAVE CAL FIRE, FIXED WING AIRCRAFT THAT ARE ON THE WAY TO FURTHER BLANKET THIS FIRE. LOWER TEMPERATURES ARE ON OUR SIDE. SO, TOO, ARE THE WINDS WHICH COULD AND HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE POWERFUL. WE ARE WATCHING IT MUCH MORE CLOSELY. PROBABLY 20 TO 30-MILE-PER-HOUR GUSTS AT SOME MOMENT. SOME STRONG WINDS BUT LUCKILY THE EMBERS HAVE NOT BEEN SPREADING THE FIRE. WE STILL HAVE THE MANDATORY EVACUATION IN PLACE. THE BOUNDARIES OF THAT, WHICH HAVE BEEN EXPANDED ARE ON THE NORTH SIDE MULHOLLAND SOUTH SIDE SUNSET EAST SIDE 405 AND ON THE WEST END GONE OVER AND ALSO WARNINGS TO BE READY TO GO SOUTH OF SUNSET ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE SOEGZ AND ALL THE WAY TO TOPANGA CANYON. COUPLE OTHER THINGS ON THE WESTERN EDGE, WE HAVE A FIRE BREAK AND WE’LL BE BULLDOZING THAT TO MAKE A BREAK ABOUT AS WIDE AS THE 405 ITSELF, SHOULD THE FIRE SPREAD FURTHER WEST, BUT I WANT TO REASSUREEOPLE THAT’S NOT BECAUSE THE FIRE HAS SPREAD ALL THE WAY OVER THERE TOWARDS TOPANGA BUT COMING UP FIREWOOD ROAD AND MAKE SURE IT CAN’T SPREAD FURTHER. ONE LAST THING IS MAKE SURE IF YOU HAVE EVACUATION NOTICE AND YOU’RE LISTENING TO ME RIGHT NOW AND YOU ARE STILL IN YOUR HOME. LEAVE. LEAVE YOUR HOME. WE’VE SEEN FIRE AND TRAGEDIES WHERE PEOPLE HAVE BELIEVED THEY COULD STAY IN PLACE, WHERE THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD FIGHT THE FIRE AND BE A HERO THEMSELVES AND TAKE OUT THEIR GARDEN HOSE. DO NOT DO THAT. THE ONLY THING YOU CANNOT REPLACE IS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. SO, GET YOUR LOVED ONES, YOUR PETS AND GET OUT. AND THE READY, SET, GO FOR THOSE WHO ARE WARNING OF EVACUATION, BE SET RIGHT NOW. HAVE THOSE CARS LOADED UP RIGHT NOW SO IF THAT EVACUATION ORDER DOES COME LATER HERE TODAY, YOU CAN GO. WE DO EXPECT THIS TO BE SOMETHING WE’LL FIGHT OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. I’LL GIVE THE CHIEF A LITTLE MORE DETAIL AND TALK ABOUT THE COUNCIL MEMBER AND THE EVACUATION CENTERS SET UP FOR RESIDENTS AND STUDENTS AT ST. MARY’S HAVE BEEN EVACUATED AND THANK YOU TO LAPD TO PROTECT THESE NEIGHBORHOOD AND ALSO GO DOOR TO DOOR AND MAKE THE ASSIST TO LAFD FOR FOLKS THAT ARE SENIOR WHO ARE LIVING WITH DISABILITIES, AS WELL. I’LL TURN IT OVER TO THE CHIEF RIGHT NOW. I’LL COME BACK AND SAY A FEW WORDS IN SPANISH. THE LAST THING, THE 405 WILL BE CLOSED ON THE SOUTHBOUND EXITS BETWEEN BOTH THE GETTY CENTER DRIVE, MULHOLLAND ALL THE WAY TO THE 10. YOU CANNOT GET OFF SOUTHBOUND. YOU CAN STILL GO TO WORK IF YOU’RE ON WILSHIRE BOULEVARD. YOU WILL HAVE TO PASS IF YOU’RE GOING SOUTHBOUND AND WE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE OPERATIONAL ABILITIES FOR ALL OF OUR FIREFIGHTERS. SO, THANK YOU TO THE CHIEF WHO IS LEADING A GROUP OF HEROES TONIGHT.>>THANK YOU, MAYOR. WE RECEIVED A 911 CALL AT ABOUT 1:34 THIS MORNING OF A REPORTED BRUSH FIRE ADJACENT TO THE 405 FREEWAY. IMMEDIATELY DISPATCHED. THE WIND IS COMING OUT OF THE NORTHEAST. TYPICAL SANTA ANA DIRECTION AND WITHIN THE HOUR, WE HAD MULTIPLE MORE COMPANIES ON SCENE. WE ARE USING TECHNOLOGY TO OUR ADVANTAGE. USING OUR PLATFORM AND THIS YEAR WE ADDED THAT WITH FIXED WING FLIES THAT FLIES THE PERIMETER IN REALTIME. THAT’S WHY WE KNOW WE HAVE SLIGHTLY OVER 500 ACRES INVOLVED AT THIS TIME. WE DON’T HAVE ANY SPECIFIC PROPERTY DAMAGE ASSESSMENT OTHER THAN WHAT THE MAYOR SAID. ANECDOTALLY I’M HEARING FIVE HOMES, AT LEAST FIVE HOMES AND I DO ANTICIPATE THAT NUMBER WILL CLIMB IN THE COMING HOURS. THE WIND IS PROJECTED TO CONTINUE UNTIL AT LEAST 2:00 P.M. TODAY. WE ARE STAFFED UP. THE LOS ANGELES FIRE DEPARTMENT IS IN THE RECALL MODE. NONE OF OUR FIREFIGHTERS ARE GOING HOME UNTIL WE STAFF EVERY APPARATUS AVAILABLE. WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH SEVERAL FIRES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. THE SADDLE RIDGE FIRE, THE PALISADES FIRE. WE GOT COMPANIES UP NORTH AT THE KINCADE FIRE AND WE DID SUPPORT THE TICK FIRE. IT’S A DANGEROUS SEASON RIGHT NOW. THE SANTA ANA WINDS PICK UP HISTORICALLY AND LAST THROUGH APRIL. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. SO THAT’S WHY WE’RE VERY, VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THESE WEATHER CONDITIONS. SO, I URGE YOU ALL FOR IMMEDIATE UPDATES GO TO LAPD.ORG. DO AS THE MAYOR SAID AND LOOK AT THE READY, SET, GO PROGRAM. BE READY TO GO AT ALL TIMES. AND STAY TUNED. WE’LL HAVE REGULAR UPDATES. OUR DISPATCH CENTER FOR THE FIRST THREE HOURS OF THIS INCIDENT AND WE’RE ENSURING THAT THE INFORMATION THAT WE GET FROM THE FIELD VALIDATED BY OUR FIXED WING UP IN THE SKY AND OUR LATEST PROJECTIONS ARE DOWNLOADED TO LAPD.ORG. THAT WAY YOU’LL HAVE THE BEST INFORMATION. AND I’LL TURN IT OVER TO THE CHIEF.>>GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE. OF THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT IS CURRENTLY ON TACTICAL ALERT AND WHAT THAT MEANS FOR OUR COMMUNITIES IS THAT WE WILL BE HANDLING EMERGENCY CALLS FOR SERVICE, BUT WE HAVE ALL OF THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE LAPD WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH OUR PARTNERS, OUR HEROES IN THE LAFD IN THE UNIFIED COMMAND STRUCTURE. LAPD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EVACUATION BRANCH OF THIS INCIDENT, AS WELL AS WORKING WITH OUR CHP PARTNERS IN TRAFFIC CONTROL TO ENSURE THAT INGRESS AND EGRESS INTO THE AFFECTED AREAS GOES AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE. ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE DEPARTMENT, I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THE IMPACTED COMMUNITIES FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND YOUR WILLINGNESS TO QUICKLY, QUICKLY WORK WITH US TO WORK ON THE MANDATORY EVACUATION ZONES GATHERING UP JUST THOSE BASIC BELONGINGS AND HELPING TO MOVE TO EVACUATION CENTERS THAT HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED THROUGH OUR EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER. WE TO ENSURE THAT YOUR SAFETY IS OF OUR PARAMOUNT CONCERN. SO, PLEASE, AS YOU SEE LAPD OFFICERS BOTH ON MOTORCYCLES, ON FOOT AND IN VEHICLES ENCOURAGING YOU TO LEAVE THE AREA, PLEASE COMPLY AS WE’RE WORKING TO MAINTAIN ORDER AND TO KEEP YOU SAFE. SO, PLEASE KN THAT WE ARE HERE TO SUPPORT YOU IN EVY WAY POSSLE. THANK YOU SO MUCH.>>THANK YOU. ASSISTANT CHIEFGIRMALA. I’LL ASK MIKE WHO REPRESENTS WEST OF THE 405 TO SAY SOME WORDS OF EVACUATION CENTERS AND PROVIDING WITH THE RED CROSS AS WE JUST DID IN RECENT WEEKS.>>THANK YOU, MR. MAYOR. FIRST OF ALL, GOD BLESS LAFD AND OUR FIRST RESPONDERS. THANK THEM FOR EVERYTHING THEY’VE BEEN DOING OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS. AND THANKS TO THOSE WHO SO WILLINGLY COOPERATED VERY CONFUSING AND TRYING CIRCUMSTANCES IN EVACUATING. IF YOU ARE GETTING DIRECTIONS FROM LAFD OR LAPD, PLEASE FOLLOW THEM. AS HAVING THAT, BUT THERE ARE SOME HORSES THAT ARE BOTH IN BRENTWOOD AND PACIFIC PALISADES AND SOME OF THE CANYONS. I’LL SAY A COUPLE THINGS IN SPANISH REAL QUICK AND THEN TAKE A COUPLE QUESTIONS.>>THAT RIGHT THERE IS MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT GIVING US AN U.N.IDATE AT 7:15. WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR. WE NOW KNOW IT HAS BURNED MORE THAN 500 ACRES AND THAT THEY GOT A 911 CALL AT AROUND 1:40 THIS MORNING TO REPORT A FIRE. STILL UNKNOWN HOW THIS FIRE STARTED. THAT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. BUT MORE THAN A DOZEN HOMES HAVE BURNED IN THE BRENTWOOD AREA AND CANYON AREA AND THEY CONTINUE TO FIGHT THIS FIRE THIS MORNING.>>YOU TALKED ABOUT THE CALL CAME IN AT 1:30 AND THE MAYOR WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO SAY THAT IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE HOMELESS OR AT A HOMELESS CAMP, BUT HE DID NOT SPECIFY WHAT THE CAUSE WAS. AND WHY THAT IS SO IMPORTANT IS BECAUSE THAT IS NEAR THE AREA WHERE IT BURNED IN DECEMBER OF 2017 AND THAT FIRE, YOU MAY RECALL, WAS STARTED BY A COOKING FIRE AT A HOMELESS CAMP. SO, THE MAYOR, AGAIN, SPECIFYING THAT WAS NOT THE CASE THIS PARTICULAR TIME, THOUGH. HE SAID THEY WOULD RELEASE THE SPECIFIC CAUSE A LITTLE BIT LATER ON THROUGHOUT THE DAY.>>ALSO GIVING CREDIT TO FIREFIGHTERS FOR ALL THE AIRDROPS THAT HE SAID HELPED A LOT THIS MORNING. AND HE HOPES THAT THAT CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. BUT SAYS THAT MAKING IT VERY, SAYING THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO LISTEN TO ALL THE EVACUATION ORDERS. THEY CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW THAT PUTS YOUR LIFE IN DANGER AND FIREFIGHTERS, AS WELL. WE DO HAVE ALL THE EVACUATION ORDERS LISTED IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SCREEN, AS WELL AS THE SHELTERS, IF YOU NEED TO EVACUATE.>>TAKING THE CONSERVATIVE APPROACH AND THE MAYOR SAYING HE SAW AT LEAST FIVE HOMES DAMAGED ON TIGER TAIL, BUT, AGAIN, THE FIRE CHIEF SAYING THEY ANTICIPATE THAT NUMBER WILL GROW. WE’RE GOING TO LISTEN BACK IN TO THIS NEWS CONFERENCE.>>I THINK THE MAYOR IS TAKING SOME QUESTIONS. LET’S LISTEN IN.>>IF THIS FIRE JUMPS, WE HAVE TO SURGE VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY WHERE THEY NEED TO BE AND THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS BE IN THE WAY OF THEM. SO, PLEASE LET THEM DO THEIR JOB. THEY WERE REALLY STRONG WHEN THE FIRE STARTED BUT REALLY WHAT WE HAVE SEEN IS THEM GO DOWN IN A LITTLE BIT IN INTENSIFICATION SINCE THEN. THAT IS REALLY GOOD. THE FUEL IS STILL AN ISSUE HERE. DANIELLA, YOU AND I WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS. THE LAST TIME IT RAINED IN THIS AREA, LONG TIME. MAY, MAY 26th. 0.04 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE MAY. MAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH NOW HAS NOT RECEIVED EVEN A DROP OF RAIN. THAT’S IT. JUST BEEN INCREDIBLY DRY IN THIS AREA AND THAT’S ONE OF THE REASONS YOU SEE NEAR THE GETTY CENTER A 9% HUMIDITY. THE OTHER REASON THE SANTA ANA WINDS. THESE OFF-SHORE WINDS. YOU CAN SEE RIGHT NEAR BRENTWOOD. NOTICE THE DIRECTIONS. THE REASON THAT THEY’RE NOT EVACUATING ANYBODY IN THIS AREA IS BECAUSE THE SANTA ANA WINDS AND THE WINDS ARE BLOWING AWAY FROM THAT. THEY’RE BLOWING IN THAT DIRECTION. NOT TO THE EAST OF THE 405. YOU CAN SEE THE ARROW THERE. THE WINDS ARE FAIRLY LIGHT RIGHT NOW. AGAIN, THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THIS SPOT.>>WE’RE GOING TO CHECK IN WITH ALYSHA ABOUT SOME ROAD CLOSURES.>>PARDON ME. A LOT HAPPENING HERE ON THIS 405 BECAUSE OF THE GETTY FIRE AND THE MAYOR CONFIRMING THE FREEWAY IS STILL OPEN BUT THAT PLANNED CLOSURE IS COMING. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THE 405 SOUTHBOUND SIDE FROM THE, EXCUSE ME. FROM THE VALLEYVILLE TO SUNSET BOULEVARD. THAT IS WHERE THE SUNSET SIDE IS CLOSED. THESE ARE CONFIRMED CLOSURES. THE GETTY FIRE SHUT DOWN ON THE 405 SOUTHBOUND. MULHOLLAND, GETTY AND SOUTHBOUND. NORTHBOUND YOU HAVE NEW ADDITIONAL CLOSURES, INCLUDING MORAG A&M ULHOLLAND THE ONRAMPS ON THE 405 NORTH. ALL THE MAIN LANES ARE OPEN ON THAT SIDE. WAZE WILL TAKE US TO REALTIME DRIVING CONDITIONS. YOU CAN SEE 405 IS SLAMMED. IT IS DOWN TO 3 MILES PER HOUR EVEN THOUGH THOSE MAIN LANES ARE OPENED ON THAT SOUTHBOUND. EARLIER NEWS CHOPPER 4 ALPHA CONFIRMED SEPULVEDA WAS CLOSED EARLIER. EXPECT SOME OF THE CLOSURES ONGOING THROUGHOUT THE DAY AS FIREFIGHTERS DEAL WITH THIS FIRE, THE GETTY FIRE. EXPECT SIDE STREETS LIKE SEPULVEDA AND LIKE THE CANYON STREETS AND MULHOLLAND DRIVE AND ALL THE SIDE STREETS IN THIS AREA WILL BE IMPACTED, AS WELL, ESPECIALLY ONCE THEY SHUT DOWN THAT 405, WHICH IS COMING. THE MAYOR JUST CONFIRMING. WAZE IS GREAT WITH DRIVING COND SIDE STREETS. IF YOU HAVEN’T DOWNLOADED THAT APP, SO HELPFUL IF YOU’RE TRYING TO GET IN AND AROUND THAT AREA. AS WE HAVE BEEN ASKING YOU ALL MORNING, PLEASE, AVOID THE 405. DON’T GO IN THAT AREA IF YOU DON’T NEED TO BE THERE. HERE YOU LOOKED DOWN THE STREET AND IT’S VERY QUIET. THE ORANGE HAZE IN THE SKY. THAT IS NOT THE SUNRISE. THAT IS THE HAZE BEING CAUSED BY THE GETTY FIRE. WE ARE ON FISC STREET WITH MOLLY WHO LIVES HERE WITH HER SON AND SHE’S IN A BIT OF A PICKLE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE YOU WANT TO GO, BUT YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO STAY RIGHT NOW. WE EVACUATED AT ABOUT 4:30 IN THE MORNING AND THEY WERE OUT. THEY WERE LINED UP. THEY’RE DOING AN INCREDIBLE JOB. I’M GLAD THAT YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND ARE DOING WELL.>>YEAH, THANK YOU.>>GOOD FOR YOU. YOU’RE HEARING GRATITUDE FOR THE FIRST RESPONDERS AND FIREFIGHTERS ON THE FRONT LINES. BUT THIS IS REALLY, THE SITUATION WHERE YOU’RE STARTING TO SEE STRANGERS COMING TOGETHER AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, A LOT OF ELDERLY AND SENIOR CITIZENS WITH THEIR CANES. TEY’VE BEEN COMING OUT HERE WITH THEIR PET CARRIERS. THIS MORNING, A LOT OF PEOPLE ALSO CHECKING ON THEIR FAMILIES. LITTLE CHILDREN HERE WITH THEIR TOYS. I DON’T KNOW. I COULD SEE THE SMOKE.>>YOU CAN SEE IS THE SMOKE. HOW HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP TO DATE? HAVE YOU BEEN WATCHING THE NEWS AT ALL?>>OUR NEIGHBORS WERE POUNDING ON THE DOORS AND ELITTING US WE SHOULD VEICUATE. THAT’S HOW WE FOUND OUT WE WERE ASLEEP.>>WHAT DID YOU BRING WITH YOU?>>I HAD A CONTAINER OF STUFF THAT WAS EMERGENCY AND I PUT IT ALL IN THE CAR.>>ALL THE NECESSITIES, MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND THINGS LIKE THAT?>>YEAH.>>JUNE, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TALKING TO US. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. AND, YOU KNOW, THAT’S REALLY THE STORY HERE. THE RED CROSS DOING AN AMAZING JOB TRYING TO GET THESE PEOPLE SITUATED. AND AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. PEOPLE, OF COURSE, THEY JUST SCURRY OUT OF THEIR HOMES BECAUSE OF SAFETY ISSUES, BUT A LOT OF THESE FOLKS WHO ARE HERE AT THE WESTWOOD RECREATION CENTER THEY DID THE RIGHT THING GRABBING THE SELSS THAT THEY NEED AND, REALLY, JUST STARTING TO BUILD A COMMUNITY HERE AND PEOPLE JUST HELPING EACH OTHER OUT. THAT’S THE FEELING AS OF RIGHT NOW. REPORTING LIVE HERE OFF OF SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD, GENE KING. BACK TO YOU.>>THANK YOU. WE WANT TO SHOW YOU THIS VIDEO RIGHT HERE FROM CHASE WHO TOOK THIS VIDEO OF THE FIRE. THE GETTY FIRE THAT IS BURNING RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN SEE JUST THAT OMINOUS GLOW FROM THE ORANGE FLAMES. THE SKY ALMOST LOOKS ORANGE, GRAY AND BLACK. THAT’S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SEEING EARLIER THIS MORNING. AT THE 405 AND MORAGO.>>LET’S GET THE AERIAL VIEW FROM NEWS CHOPPER 4 ALPHA. OVER THE GETTY FIRE NOW SEEING A LOT OF SMOKE, MEGAN. >>WE’RE TRYING TO GET BACK INTO THE FIRE. APPARENTLY WHEN THE FIRE FIRST BREAKS OUT WE DON’T HAVE ANY OF THE FIXED WINGS. WE DIDN’T HAVE ANY FIXED WINGS EARLIER. A LOT OF THE WATER DROPPING HELICOPTERS. NEWS CHOPPER 4 ALPHA WE WERE ABLE TO GET INTO THE THICK OF THINGS. NOW THAT WE HAVE CAL FIRE ON SCENE, THEY ARE HAVING US CLIMB A LITTLE HIGHER BECAUSE WE HAVE THE SUPER SCOOPERS, AS WELL AS SOME OF THE AIR TANKERS. IN FACT, I THINK THAT MIGHT BE THE D.C. 10 OUT MY WINDOW HERE. WHILE I FIND IT, THE 405 FREEWAY. SO FAR THE 405 FREEWAY ARE STILL OPEN. SHUT DOWN ON THE SOUTHBOUND STRETCH OF THE 405 AND WE’LL GET CONIFIRMATION IF THEY SHUT DOWN THE LANES. WHAT I CAN TELL YOU IS A LOT OF FOLKS ARE ABIDING FROM THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL AVOIDING THE 405 FREEWAY. IT DOESN’T SLOW UNTIL YOU GET PAST THE VENTURA FREEWAY. GETTI. VITAL RESOURCE FOR THE CREWS AND HOMEOWNERS. THAT IS DEFINITELY A SITE THEY WANT TO SEE. THE D.C. 10 PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS THEY ARE GOING TO LAY A LINE OF FIRE RETARDANT AND TRY TO CONTAIN THAT FIRE BY LAYING THAT LINE JUST A LITTLE WEST OF IT AND ESSENTIALLY IF THEY’RE GOING TO CIRCLE THE FIRE WITH THE RETARDANT. IF THE WINDS SHIFT, THE OBJECTIVE OF THAT FIRE RETARDANT IS TO STOP THE FIRE IN ITS PATH. RIGHT NOW THAT WE HAVE THE AERIAL TANKERS COMING UP ON SCENE RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE ASSESSING THE SITUATION AND THAT IS GREAT NEWS. FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING A TREMENDOUS JOB OF STOPPING THIS FIRE AND, AGAIN, STOPPING ANY FORWARD PROGRESS ON THIS FIRE.>>THAT IS GREAT NEWS TO SEE. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR DAYLIGHT TO SEE THIS HAPPENING. IT’S GOING TO BE VITAL IN THIS FIREFIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MEGHAN.>>>WE WANT TO GET A CHECK OF YOUR WEATHER WITH ANTHONY YANEZ IN FOR SHANNA. YOU’RE WATCHING THE WINDS AND THE GUSTS OUT THERE THIS MORNING.>>I WANT TO FOCUS ON THE WIDE SHOT HERE OF EVERYTHING WE’RE GOING TO SEE HERE. NOT JUST FOR TODAY BUT THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AND ALSO REALLY FOCUS ON THE GETTY FIRE, TOO. WE’LL KEEP THIS WINDOW OPEN SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING. AGAIN, WIDE SHOT. HERE’S ALL THE DIFFERENT SANTA ANA WINDS AND YOU SEE INLAND EMPIRE AND ALSO FROM VAN NUYS AND VALENCIA. 18-MILE-PER-HOUR WINDS. THE GUSTS AROUND THE VAN NUYS AREA, YOU CAN SEE THAT PURPLE COLOR. THAT PURPLE COLOR REPRESENTS ANYWHERE FROM 40 TO 50 MILES PER HOUR. STILL, INCREDIBLY STRONG IN THIS AREA. NOW, ONCE YOU GET OUT OF THAT SANTA ANA PRONE SPOT, THE WINDS CALM A LITTLE BIT. THEY STILL GUST UP AT TIMES. YOU’LL HEAR ANNETTE TALK ABOUT THIS. HOW THE WINDS GET A LITTLE STRONGER, BUT STILL NEAR THE GETTY CENTER. 11 PER HUMIDITY. REALLY AN INDICATION OF HOW DRY ALL THE FUEL IS. THIS IS A COLD SANTA ANA EVENT. WE’VE GOT ANOTHER ONE COMING UP ON THURSDAY. WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, ALSO. BUT FOR THE MOST PART YOU’RE SEEING GUSTS 10 MILES PER HOUR IN THE AREA. SO, NOTHING TOO STRONG BUT IT IS STILL A LITTLE BREEZY AND AT TIMES IT DOES PICK UP A LITTLE BIT. YOUR FUTURE CAST AS WE MOVE FORWARD THROUGH THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS HERE. HERE IS WHERE WE ARE, AGAIN, THE STRONGEST WIND IN THE SANTA ANA AREA. AS I MOVE FORWARD HOUR BY HOUR, WHAT YOU ARE SEEING HERE YOU GO FROM 9:00 INTO 10:00 OR VERY SMALL CHANGES, BUT YOU DO SEE A SLIGHT WEAKENING, BUT IT’S MINOR. JUST LOOKING AT MALIBU JUNKEN. 22-MILE-PER-HOUR WINDS. SO, ONCE WE GET TO THE AFTERNOON, THIS IS WHAT WE’RE GOING TO SEE A LITTLE BIT MORE GOOD NEWS WITH THE WINDS REALLY STARTING TO CALM. YOU CAN SEE THAT SHIFTING BACK OFF TO THE NORTH AS WE MOVE TOWARDS 7:00 TONIGHT. REALLY, WE’RE GOING TO BE IN THIS AREA OF CONCERN WITH A RED FLAG WARNING THAT GOES THROUGH 6:00 THIS EVENING. THE HUMIDITY AND THE RAIN REALLY THROUGH ALL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARE GOING TO BE 5% TO 10%. A COUPLE THINGS I’M REALLY CONCERNED WITH AS WE MOVE THROUGHOUT THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THROUGH THIS EVENING AND QUIET ON TUESDAY. AT LEAST WE HAVE THAT WITH A SLIGHT ONSHORE WIND. BUT THE STRONGEST WINDS OF THE SEASON ARE HEADED OUR WAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IN FACT, I’M LOOKING AT A COUPLE NUMBERS HERE. THIS MIGHT BE A RECORD SETTING. THERE ARE SOME CONCERNS HERE. RIGHT NOW I WAS MENTIONING, IF YOU’VE BEEN OUTSIDE, YOU KNOW HOW CHILLY IS FEELS. THIS AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVES THROUGH WITH A COLD FRONT AND THAT COLD FRONT COOLS US OFF AND THE FLOW IS BRINGING IN THAT STRONG SANTA ANA FLOW. THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY. IT IS CALLED THE COLD SANTA ANA BECAUSE OF THE FRONT AND AREA OF LOW PRESSURE. NOT AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE. HERE IS THE CONCERN AS WE MOVE THROUGHOUT THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. LOOK HOW STRONG THESE WINDS GET. YOU’RE GOING TO FUTURECAST. AGAIN, FROM NOW ALL THE WAY THROUGH LUNCHTIME. THEY’RE GOING TO BE STRONG. THEY START TO WEAKEN A LITTLE BIT AS WE MOVE TOWARDS 6:00 THIS EVENING. IN FACT, WE’RE STARTING TO SEE A LITTLE BIT MORE OF AN ONSHORE FLOW. TOMORROW IS NICE AND QUIET. THIS IS GOOD NEWS. WE’RE ABLE TO GET OUR BEARINGS, IF THERE IS ANY FIRE THAT STARTS TOMORROW, IT’S A LITTLE EASIER TO HANDLE, UNLIKE FOR TODAY. BUT LOOK AT THIS. AS WE MOVE TOWARDS TUESDAY NIGHT AT 10:00, HERE IS THAT NEXT SANTA ANA PATTERN AND THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT. THIS COULD BE NEAR RECORD-SETTING FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AS FAR AS THE OFF-SHORE GRADIENTS. HOW STRONG THESE WINDS ARE GOING TO BE AS WE MOVE THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY. THIS IS GOING TO LAST THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY ON THURSDAY. SO, ALREADY, A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT. LOOK AT THESE GUSTS 50 TO 70 MILES PER HOUR. WE HAVEN’T HAD ANYTHING NEAR THAT SO FAR WITH THE SEVERAL SANTA ANAS WE HAD OVER THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS. HUMIDITY STILL IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR THE THREAT INDEX FOR WEDNESDAY IS HIGH IN THIS AREA FROM THE L.A. COUNTY MOUNTAINS, SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS AND ANGELES NATIONAL FORECAST AND PRETTY BAD AS YOU CAN MOVE FROM INLAND EMPIRE AND ORANGE COUNTY. SOME CONCERNS FOR RIGHT NOW AND I’M REALLY WORRIED ABOUT WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. HERE’S TRAFFIC NOW WITH ALYSHA.>>ANTHONY, THANK YOU FOR THAT, INHEADS UP. A LOT TO THINK ABOUT ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE IN THIS AREA. THE 405 AT THIS TIME IS STILL OPEN, BUT THE CLOSURES AND THEY KEEP ADDING UP, INCLUDING THE LATEST FROM THE CHP. YOU CANNOT GET FROM THE 101 TO THE 405. THOSE CONNECTORS REMAIN CLOSED. NOW, THE SOUTHBOUND SIDE OF THE 405 WE HAVE OFF RAMPS SHUT DOWN, INCLUDING MULHOLLAND AND GETTY. SOUTHBOUND SIDE, PARDON ME, NORTHBOUND, MULHOLLAND AND SEPULVEDA. BUT THE MAIN LANES REMAIN OPEN IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. NOW, I STRESS THAT BECAUSE THEY ARE PLANNING ON CLOSING DOWN THAT 405 SOUTHBOUND FROM VALLEY VISTA TOWARDS THE SUNSET AND WE CAN SHOW YOU DRIVING CONDITIONS ALREADY, YOU ARE IMPACTED ON THAT 405 SOUTHBOUND. LET’S GO TO WAZE AND SHOW YOU ON PARTS OF THE 405 SOUTHBOUND, YOU’RE DOWN TO SEVEN MILES PER HOUR. SEPULVEDA WAS CLOSED IN SEVERAL AREAS AND NEWS CHOPPER 4 SHOWING US THAT EARLIER. JUST LIKE THE FIRE IS DYNAMIC AND THINGS KEEP CHANGING, SO ARE THESE CLOSURES. THEY WILL BE OFF AND ON HERE AND EXPECT SIGHTS LIKE UPCOMING CLOSURE OF THE 405. OTHER FREEWAYS, YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE 101, CLOSE TO PARKING LOT AS YOU HEAD FROM THE VALLEY AREA INTO THE AREA INTO DOWNTOWN. SO JUST STRESSING PLEASE DO NOT GO NEAR THE 405 FREEWAY IF YOU DON’T INTEREST TO. MAJOR SIDE STREETS WILL BE IMPACTED. IF YOU DO HAVE TO DRIVE IN THESE AREAS, GET OUT EXTREMELY EARLY. BE CAREFUL AND WATCH OUT FOR OUR FIRST RESPONDERS. BACK TO YOU. >>WELL SAID. THANK YOU. 8:00 RIGHT NOW. I’M DANIELLE GUZMAN. EXTEND THE OF “TODAY IN L.A.” WE ARE WANT TO BRING THE LATEST ON THE GETTY FIRE SINCE WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING SINCE TEMPERATURE T 2:00 THIS MORNING. >>IT STARTED 1:30 THIS MORNING. IT HAS EXPLODED TO 500 ACRES. WE HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE HOMES ON TIGER TAIL ROAD CATCH FIRE, ALSO ON CHICORY AND SKYLINE IN THE CRESTWOOD HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD. L.A. CITY FIREFIGHTERS NOT SPECIFYING HOW MANY HOMES HAVE BEEN DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. THE MAYOR SAYS HE PERSONALLY SAW FIVE HOMES BURN AND THE FIRE CHIEF ANTICIPATES THAT NUMBER WILL GO UP. 2,600 HOMES AND BUSINESSES IN BEL AIR, WESTWOOD AND BRENTWOOD ARE WITHOUT POWER RIGHT NOW DUE TO THE FIRE. >>LAPD RIGHT NOW IS ON CITYWIDE TACTICAL ALERT. CHP ASKING DRIVERS TO AVOID THE 405 FREEWAY NEAR THE GETTY CENTER DRIVE AT THIS TIME. EXITS THERE ARE SHUT DOWN IN THE AREA BOTH DIRECTIONS IN THE SOUTHBOUND FREEWAY ITSELF WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN MULHOLLAND AND THE 10 FREEWAY SO FIREFIGHTERS CAN GET IN AND OUT OF THAT AREA. SO AVOID IT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET STUCK IN THAT MESS AND TRAFFIC. GETTY CENTER MUSEUM IS SAFE. MANY WORRIED ABOUT THAT SAYING THEY HAVE ACTIVATED EMERGENCY OPERATIONS. THIS FIRE, BY THE WAY, MOVING IN A WESTWARD DIRECTION. SO MORE PEOPLE ARE BEING ASKED TO GET OUT NOW AND GET EVERYTHING READY TO GO. >>YEAH, THIS IS THE NEW MANDATORY EVACUATION ZONE. TEMESCO CANYON ROAD, . MULHOLLAND DRIVE IS THE NORTHERN BORDER. PEOPLE IN THE AREA SURROUNDING THE EVACUATION ZONE SHOULD BE PREPARED TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME NOW BECAUSE WE ARE HEARING FROM PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA SAYING IT’S BEEN CHALLENGING AND DIFFICULT TO GET OFF THE STREETS IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE THE LANES ARE NARROW, SINGLE LANE ROADS, A LOT OF SMOKE AND A LOT OF FIREFIGHTING APPARATUS AND TRUCKS OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. >>WE HEARD FROM THE L.A. FIRE DEPARTMENT, FROM THE MAYOR. NOW WE WANT TO HEAR FROM CHIEF SAM WHO IS WITH THE VERDUGO FIRE ACADEMY. CHIEF, IT IS NOW SEVERAL HOURS INTO THIS FIRE THAT IS STILL BURNING. IT IS WIDESPREAD AND WE ARE SEEING A LOT OF SMOKE OUT THERE. SEEING WHAT YOU ARE SEEING NOW, CAN YOU GIVE US AN IDEA OF WHERE YOU THINK THIS FIRE IS HEADED AND HOW THE FIREFIGHT IS GOING?>>WELL, WE SAW THIS FIRE MOVE AT A RAPID RATE OF SPREAD. WITH THIS FUEL BEING AS DRY AS IT IS IT’S GOING TO CONTINUE TO BURN VERY QUICKLY. IT’S GREAT TO SEE THE FIXED-WING AIRCRAFT AND THE DC-10 UP. THAT’S A GREAT RESOURCE TO HAVE ON THESE FIRES. BUT THIS FUEL IS BONE DRY AND IT CAN MOVE IN ANY DIRECTION. EMBERS IN THIS LIGHT AIR WITH THE WIND, A LITTLE BIT OF WIND BEHIND IT, MOVES VERY QUICKLY. >>TALK ABOUT THE D.C-10. THEY JUST DID CLOSE TO THANKS TO THE WEST VALLEY CHP FOR CONFIRMING THAT. SO YOU HAVE THAT CLOSURE IN ACTION AND YOU CAN TAKE SIDE STREETS IN THAT AREA BUT EXPECT SEPULVEDA TO BE OVERWHELMED. THE 101, YOU ARE FEELING THE IMPACT. SLAMMED FROM THE VALLEY TOWARDS UNIVERSAL CITY. NOW, THE CONNECTORS ARE GOING TO BE CLOSED AS WELL TO THE SOUTHBOUND 405 FROM THE O101. TRAFFIC ON THE 405 WILL BE DIVERTED ON TO THE 101. THAT’S WHY I’M SHOWING YOU THAT 101 FREEWAY ALONG WITH THE 405 BECAUSE THAT WILL BE HEAVILY IMPACTED. IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND THE SEPULVEDA PASS, TRY TO DRIVE OUT OF THE VALLEY TO THE PASS. EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS AS THESE CLOSURES WILL GO ON THROUGHOUT THE DAY. NO TIME GIVEN AS TO WHEN THAT SOUTHBOUND 405 WILL BE REOPENED AND LIKE THE FIRE CHANGES, THESE FREEWAY CLOSURES CAN CHANGE AS WELL. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF THEY CLOSE THE 405 NORTHBOUND LATER ON THIS MORNING. FOR NOW THE SOUTHBOUND 405 IS CLOSED FROM THE 101 TO THE SUNSET EXIT. EXPECT A WHOLE BUNCH OF DELAYS IN THAT AREA THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. WE CAN TAKE A LOOK AT WAZE AND SHOW YOU REAL TIME DRIVING CONDITIONS. LOOK LUCA PARKING LOT DOWN TO 9 MILES PER HOUR. AS A CARS ARE TAKEN OFF THAT PORTION OF THE 405 AND CARS ARE BEING DIVERTED ONTO THE 101, LOOK IT. 13 MILES PER HOUR AS YOU MAKE YOUR WAY INTO SHERMAN OAKS. SIDE STREETS IN THIS AREA ALSO WILL BE IMPACTED LIKE VENTURA BOULEVARD, LIKE MAGNOLIA. JUST EVERYTHING IN AND AROUND IS GOING TO BE A RICOCHET EFFECT. THEY WILL ALL BE IMPACTED. HEAVY DELAYS. AVOID THE 405 IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO DRIVE IN AND AROUND THAT AREA. JUST KEEP IT HERE. WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ALL DAY LONG. ALL RIGHT. BACK TO YOU AT THE DESK. >>THANK YOU. AND WE SEE THE ARIEL ASSAULT ON THE GETTY FIRE FULLY UNDERWAY WITH THE SUPER SCOOPER POUNDING THE FIRE JUST A SHORT TIME AGO. TONY WAS LAST WITH EMERGENCY RESPONDERS AS THEY WERE EVACUATING FAMILIES. WHERE ARE YOU AT AND WHAT’S GOING ON OVER THERE?>>Reporter: WELL, WE HAVE MADE OUR WAY TO TEMECULA CANYON ROAD AND THE PACIFIC HIGHWAY. 20 MINUTES AGO PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY IS CLOSED. CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL IS OUT HERE TRYING TO DIRECT THE FLOW KEEP THE PEACE. ALSO TRYING TO LKS ARE STARTING TO T FRUSATE.IF WE SPI AROD, A YOUW E AR TNING AUN WHEN THEY GET TH REAZE TY CAN G A HIGHWATROL HET U AIFORNIA YOU NNLYO NTHN PCH. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO WORK TODAY, IF THERE IS ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN CALL YOUR BOSS AND SAY, HEY, THE SITUATION IS SUCH THAT IT’S DANGEROUS, I AM NOT GOING TO GET THERE FOR SEVERAL HOURS, DO SO NOW. YOU COULD ACTUALLY SEE SMOKE OVER THE RIDGE LINE HERE. FOLKS KNOW THAT THERE IS THAT FIRE BURN, THE GETTY FIRE WHICH STARTED VERY EARLY THIS MORNING. BUT AS I LISTENED TO ALYSHA TALK ABOUT FOLKS TRYING TO TAKE SURFACE STREETS GOAT AROUND THIS, THAT IS EVEN GOING TO BE A CHALLENGE. WE ARE AWAY FROM THE FIRE. WE CAN ONLY SEE SMOKE FROM OUR VANTAGE POINT HERE. BUT THE FALLOUT FROM THAT FIRE WE COULD SEE IT ON ALL OF THE SURFACE STREETS. YOU ARE LOOKING UP NOW, YOU SEE THESE CARS IN THE MIDDLE LANES TRYING TO MAKE A U-TURN. THAT IS THE WAY IT IS ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL YOU GET SUNSET. WE STARTED SEEING THAT AROUND SUNSET. SO IT’S A MESS NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO. TURNING BACK AROUND TO THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICERS, YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY ARE TRYING TO GET — DIRECT TRAFFIC AS BEST THEY CAN. YOU HAVE THEM ON ALL POINTS NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, AND WEST. FOLKS, TAKE YOUR TIME COMING THROUGH HERE. REALIZE THAT THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH THAT THEY CAN DO AND THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU AREN’T DRIVING INTO AN AREA THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET OUT OF A TURN OR THE WINDS SHIFT AND NG Y THINGS WHEN YOU REALLY DON’T WAT OMENT. I’M NOT ITE RE.>>THE PLA S O SO YOU HAVOTF THI GOING ON. THEIRT CANICKP.JUS E SHEER VUMET WA ITS IREDIE TO SIT A THEYK PRS. PIED UP A LOAD OF WATER. WE HAVE ANHER ATUSCKED UP A LOAD BEHIND THE OTHER. SO ONE AFTER ONE, IT’S AN ASSEMBLY LINE, IF YOU WILL, OF AERIAL FIREFIGHTING HERE ON PCH AND THE TRAFFIC IS BEARING THE BRUNT OF THIS. AS WE STILL MAKE OUR WAROUND TH COMMUNITY, AT THIS POINT WE WANT OUR VIEWERS TO KNOW IF YOU CAN AVOID GETTING IN THIS MESS IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE, CALL YOUR BOSSES, TELL FOLKS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK BECAUSE IT’S NOT WORTH BEING OUT HERE RIGHT NOW. I GOT SOME VIDEO I WANT TO SHOW YOU AS WELL. A NUMBER OF LAPD OFFICERS SPREAD OUT IN THE AREA. WE WERE IN PACIFIC PALISADES THIS MORNING. THEY WERE GOING DOOR TO DOOR, KNOCKING ON DOORS, MAKING SURE THAT PEOPLE WERE AWARE THAT THE GETTY FIRE WAS BURNING AND THEY WERE AWARE THAT THEY WERE EITHER IN A MANDATORY EVACUATION ZONE OR I THEVACUN WARNING ZO. 1. So many DEMOCRATS in CALIFORNIA being punished and stripped of everything for all the EVIL THE PARTY HAS CAUSED. BEFOR SUNSET TODAY 1000 HOUSES BURN TOMORROW 5000 THOUSAND PLUS.

  2. Nice Job, I Liked it a lot, See this New Album 'Monish Jasbird – Death Blow', channel link www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_x5rlxirO-WKjLIyk6okQ?sub_confirmation=1 , you may like it 🙂

  3. And no… not all of California is burning. And no exodus… just the new normal of 4 decades of really screwing the American taxpayer. Thanks Debutante, Nancy, & Diane!

  4. This state can not handle anything , rain , wind , dry weather , the joke lib state that reports what labron says , who give a sht what that comi says , kick all the illegals out and use that money to fix this sht hole .

  5. Poor Lady who felt that she could not evacuate because her son refused to go, thank you for helping her out! And, a question: Is it reasonable to leave behind those who refuse to evacuate?! If someone reports a man to be Suicidal he is taken against his will to a certain Facility, yet when one is suicidal enough to die in a fire and cause Firefighters to risk their lives, you just leave them there?! Why not just give him a Sleepy-shot and evacuate him out so his mother doesn't stay behind to die too because of her Idiot son?

  6. You made the drought by wiping out millions and millions of acres of ancient forests! Including over 2 million acres of ancient fire resistant redwood forests! You made your beds. Now you can lay in them! I have no sympathy for your deliberate ignorance!

  7. I see a lot of people asking what Trump is doing. I think this is funny as hell

Why in the hell should Trump do anything at all why should American do anything??? California has been obstruct Trump for 3 years. Why don't you ask where is Nancy Pelosi is.

American really does not care if California burns to the ground Really. I can't remember the last time my town has not come together to help people in a natural disaster. I live in very wealthy area with people that loves to help people.

go to a big church that helps people sends Volunteers to area to help.

I've asked why is no one talking about California wildfires and Everyone says they can careless if it burns to the ground and takes everyone with them.

This is kinda sad Most of American is hoping and praying for your suffering the rest of american could careless about you.

    how sad is that.

you want to know what Trump has to say ???? really now you want his help LOL why live with your burn down state lol Hope your friend and family dies. and remember even GOD hates you.

  8. JUST LIKE IRAQ AND SYRIA …. ALLAH REVENGE YOU SAD MURDERERS … NONSTOP CURSES DISASTERS COMING AS WE TOLD U BEFORE … SIT AND WATCH !! LOVE U

  9. MAYBE THE FOURTH BRANCH OF OUR GOVERNMENT IS TO BLAME!!!! In politics of the United States, the fourth branch of government
is an unofficial term referring to groups or institutions perceived
variously as influencing or acting in the stead of the three branches of
the US federal government defined in the Constitution of the United States (Legislative, Executive and Judicial). Views as to whether the influence is due or undue or the actions are for good or ill also vary.

Such groups can include the press (as a departure from the 'Fourth Estate'), the people (in sum or as grand juries), and interest groups. The Independent administrative agencies of the United States government, while technically part of any one of the three branches, may also be referred to as a ‘fourth branch’.

    The U.S. intelligence community
has also increasingly been seen as a fourth branch. In this regard, the
'fourth branch' aspect of the intelligence community together with
interest groups and other external actors intersects significantly with the construct of 'deep state'.

  10. california is getting "purged" with artificial caused fires and some interest groups surely are rubbing their hands and every fire will empty the pockets of the people and fill the pockets of some certain interest groups some of them are not even americans

  11. Cinebar madness
    4:11 PM (25 minutes ago)
    to me, cametobeing
concrete house ..partly under ground or fully under ground should be all over those hills (where fire is) And flatter land where the house are should use for farming and going local natural foods ..No more shipping on gas burning trucks from far away ..This area can grow food all year around for plp living in concrete burn proof house..Amen

  12. THE CORRUPT CA GOVERNMENT IS SETTING THE FIRES USING ANTIFA TO LIGHT THE MATCH,, PELOSI FEINSTEIN BROWN WATERS NEWSOM ARE ALL CRIMINALS AND TRAITORS WHO ARE BURNING DOWN CA AND WILL BURN DOWN AMERICA NEXT IF THEY ARE NOT STOPPED.. WAKE UP CA YOU ARE BEING BURNED OUT AND INVADED BY ILLEGAL INVADERS CA IS DOOMED

  13. Tens-of-millions of American hope California burns, they deserve it @KARMA! America only needs the docks for shipping and receiving, the roads will be just fine, NO FEDERAL FUNDING. Spend your money to support illegals and free stuff, also overpaid public officials, LET IT BURN!
