CIVILIZATION VI – First Look: India

Gandhi leads India in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Gandhi’s nonviolent independence movement led to the creation of modern India, and he remains revered around the world for his commitment to peace. Gandhi’s ability is called “Satyagraha.” For each civ India has met which has founded a religion and is not at war, India gets a significant boost in Faith. Opposing civs suffer additional happiness penalties for fighting wars against Gandhi. Religion also plays into India’s Dharma ability. They get the follower beliefs of all religions present in their cities, not just the one from their own religion. Just in case the peaceful spread of religion isn’t working, India does have the Varu unique unit. It reduces the combat strength of adjacent enemy units. The Stepwell is India’s unique tile improvement and provides Housing and food. It gives bonus food if built next to a farm, and faith if built next to a holy site. Gandhi’s bonuses to faith in times of peace, and the Stepwell improvement, mean you’ll have plenty of housing and faith when you play as India. If you can become the crossroads for all the religions in your game, you’ll be well on your way to victory. Will the world honor your wisdom and faith? How will you lead India in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI?

  1. Don't have the game, but for the "how will you lead India" question, the only correct answer, in accordance with long Civ tradition, would be "nuke everybody". After all, that's what Civ Gandhi does.

  2. It's a beautiful day outside.
    People are screaming.
    Mushrooms are growing.

  5. Ah Ghandi, never has a man with peacful aura and a kind heart turned a country around as well as nuking you is if you don't accept peace. A true idol indeed.

  6. I'm sorry but why ghandi and no one else? And why furthering the stupid nuke meme? Sure it was funny at the time, but don't you think it's slandering his good name. IMO

  7. War… war neve– ahem
    sorry wrong script

  9. There's actually an Easter egg line that gandhi can say to you. "Nuclear weaponry is the future! How can you not see that?" Got this like in the 60th turn while he was still in the classical era. Screencapped it http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1098685916

  17. Gandhi's idea of peace? Begin a nuclear holocaust that will drive humanity to extinction so that no one will be left to wage war upon each other. It actually makes perfect sense!
