Civilization VI: Rise and Fall – First Look: Scotland

Robert the Bruce leads Scotland in Civilization VI: Rise and Fall. He was no stranger to battle, and led his people to victory during the First War of Scottish Independence. He is remembered as a fierce defender of Scotland’s interests, both on and off the battlefield. Scotland’s unique ability is called “Scottish Enlightenment.” Happy and ecstatic cities receive additional Science and Production. They also receive additional Great Scientist points from Campuses and Great Engineer points from Industrial Zones. Scotland’s unique improvement is the Golf Course. This provides an Amenity, as well as Gold. It also provides Culture if adjacent to a City Center, and additional Culture if adjacent to an Entertainment District. Their unique unit is the Highlander. This reconnaissance unit replaces the Ranger and receives a combat bonus when fighting in Hills and Woods. Robert’s unique ability is “Bannockburn.” After researching the Defensive Tactics civic, he can declare a War of Liberation. After declaring a War of Liberation, he receives additional movement to units and production to cities in the opening turns of the war. Though Robert can be a powerful military leader, be sure to combat War Weariness with Golf Courses to reap the full benefits of Scotland’s unique ability. Scotland is a Science and Production powerhouse, making this a versatile civ for any victory type. Can you create an enlightened, independent kingdom? How will you lead Scotland in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Rise and Fall?

  1. Thanks for watching! Be sure to like the video and subscribe to the channel for more content.

Will you play as Scotland in Civilization VI: Rise & Fall? Which feature of Scotland is your favorite?

  2. The Scoti were a tribe from northern Ireland who conquered and subjugated the Picts. War of Liberation intensifies…

  3. Right, so the people who are never happy get bonus' for being happy? seems legit, that's why they are a shit hole in real life, they were never happy enough to receive their bonus'

  4. I Hope in the future, may appear more sudamerican factions, like for example: the Mapuches, the Tupis and the inca empire………………. also Chile and Argentina of course!

  5. About time Scotland got some love in Civ, and thanks for choosing a scientific Civ instead of an inaccurate military option.

  6. I just love how "Scotland the Brave" sounds in the background. I wish it would be the main theme for this civ.

  7. He should have a unique unit named William Wallace. You can only make one and it replaces all ground melee troops in all ages. He shoots lightning from his eyes and fireballs from his backside and gets a steep combat bonus against all English units.

  8. Does not it make sense for you to have a king or a car where they rule in the 18th century, and in 21 years, do you have rockets and robots?

  9. thurs nae haggis, or neeps, or even tatties, nea a swifter o whisky, mon tae buggery, can a man no hae his libations and munch in a game aboot his wee nation, also, cultural influence should be aff the charts, as we aw ken that oor Enlightenment gave birth to the modern world, also, if ye cannea unerstan whit ma gub is sprakkin, then awa and git yersel a scots english dictionary.

  10. Pshhh never even heard of “Scotland” give us what we want Civ! We want Ottomans!!! We want Ottomans!!

  11. With such a wealth of Scottish folk music, I feel like choosing “Scotland the Brave” as the theme song is kind of a cop-out. It just seems like the one that everyone would expect, but there are so many other options. For example, America’s theme is “Hard Times Come Again No More” rather than patriotic standards like “Star Spangled Banner” or “Battle Hymn of the Republic”. The folk song works better because it captures the spirit of the people rather than simply identifying the nation.

  12. Robert the Bruce shouldn't be for Scotland he only took cues and notes in independence and the right of freedom from William Wallace and if u take them individually Robert was a duke when he came to power and Wallace was a count at the height of his power not much difference in rank at the time

  13. Please don't make the music Scotland the Brave, use a good bagpipe tune, with a better drummer. That's all it needs to be perfect.

  14. So Scotland and Golf is an actual thing historically? At least that Mad Scottish Golfer villain from Kim Possible makes more sense now.

  15. I just ended my first game as Scotland….
And what can I say ?
It's just SO much fun !
    Europe map true start locations.
Victoria declares war to me five turns after I met her, I was outnumbered but managed to push her back. we made peace, found a second city just north of London, discovered Germany, Frederik declares war and I am like wot ? Victoria joins the war, but this time I'm prepared ! I conquer London and we agreed to another truce. Funny thing is Victoria gets wiped out because her last city revolts and joins my soon to be empire ! I discover what would be Ireland and proceed to colonise. Scotland now rules over the the whole british isles !
From there I proceed to invade France, walk in the park !
I then conquer Germany, Denmark and the south of Norway and Sweden ! Scottland rules over Europe ! I went for the Scientific victory !

10/10 will play golf with Bruce again !

  16. All right lads the English cunts are just over that hill nou lads and lassys do yea got your golden golf clubs for extra bettings

  17. Why is scottland giving science to happy cities and GOLF??? I want badass warriors with Broadswords, bagpipes and Skirts! This game is disappointing…. 🙁

  18. Tldr.: This civ is a beast!

So I tested him for the first time today ( just got rise and fall… I know late to the party 😀 ) started a huge continents map with all the dlc civs + 1 random (got Alexander..) on Emperor..
Got very bad start, since Robert doesn't have a bias. In the middle of a flatland covered by jungle. There was one single hill three tiles away (covered in jungle). Moreover Alexander started like 7 tiles south of me and Shaka Zulu like 8 to the east of Alexander… amazing.

Absolutely obliterated them! Alexander was out by the end of Ancient Era, Shaka was holding out until early medieval. Now renaissance just started and I am WAY ahead of everyone with planes vs their pike and shots and some knights. On Emperor. The closest civ behind me in terms of science is the Cree and they are like 1/3 behind me. on Emperor. Huge map. That never happened before, usually I had to fight tooth and nail, now I am just rolling. Cities constantly happy and pumping out production/science like crazy, every other turn some engineer or scientist pops, so many I actually don't use them all. Some are already behind with their eurekas because by the time I get them I already have the techs.

  19. God's glory to you Robert the Bruce, the "Outlaw King" who single handedly united the Scottish tribes and took back the throne of Scotland for yourself. Your glories at Sterling Ground and Bannockburn have become the stuff of legends and folklore. Once again your country calls on you to lead her people. Will you build a civilization that will stand the test of Time?
