Many people have issues with aches and
pains, joint issues and things like that. A lot of people have problems with sleep,
so we do have big discussions about sleep, and anxiety and depression
sometimes and then just other general stuff, abdominal pain, a lot of things come up
with just a wellness exam, wellness is not always what you think is coming
in for, so yeah. I’m Colette Toronto, I’m a family nurse practitioner, I’m from Chicago but been a nurse practitioner for 20 odd years, so yeah, I do like being
a nurse practitioner because I like to spend time with people, talk to people
and everything like that, I do have a holistic look at patients and things
like that, when I see patients I like to talk to them and find out what they need. I have two dogs, they are a little Shih Tzu and a little mutt and they just love to walk every day so that’s our evening ritual, we have dinner, my husband and I
have dinner and then we go for our walks after that. We do like to hit the trails
and and get some exercise that way as well, so that’s fun. Sometimes it’s good
to keep active, that’s important because if you aren’t active and you can get
more soreness and things like that. I have a positive outlook on life and such but
I’d like to help patients to kind of get wellness, I do a lot of wellness exam so
I do like to delve into that. I’ve been here for over 10 years now and there’s
some patients I’ve seen from when they’ve been like a middle teenager up
until 20 years old or some families as well, so it’s it I really like to focus
on their psychosocial issues, like what’s going on with your mom or what’s going
on with the different family members as well so I like to tie it all in together
that way. I think it enhances patient care, I mean, I think if you do have patient that has an issue with a mother at home, then you want to kind of say hey
how that’s going how is it going with that and how is that impacting your
health.
