Rachel Krosky-Lexi’s Mom: “HIGH MRS. PRINDLE. LOOK WHO’S HERE.” Stan Boney-WKBN 27 first news: I spent some time this afternoon in Lexi Krosky’s living room — with her teacher Janet Pringle and mother Rachel. Rachel Krosky-Lexi’s Mom: “SHE’S BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL. SHE’S HAD MORE SURGERIES THAN BIRTHDAYS. SO THERE’S STILL A LOT OF SCARY STUFF, DAYS THAT WE HAVE.” Stan Boney-WKBN 27 first news: Lexi Krosky has cerebral palsy, she’s legally blind, and lives her life from a wheelchair. But last Sunday — after being named to the National Honor Society — she graduated from Columbiana High School with honors. Janet Pringle-Lexi’s Teacher: “LEXI WORKED VERY HARD IN HIGH SCHOOL. SHE STUDIED A LOT. IT’S IMPORTANT FOR HER TO DO WELL.” Stan Boney-WKBN 27 first news: She also fit right in. She was a cheerleader all four years. Rachel Krosky-Lexi’s Mom: “THE FANS ARE AMAZING. IF SHE’S NOT THERE, THEY’RE ASKING IF SHE’S OK AND SHE’S HEALTHY BECAUSE THEY WORRY ABOUT HER.” Stan Boney-WKBN 27 first news: And Lexi’s mother had only good things to say about the Columbiana Schools. Rachel Krosky-Lexi’s Mom: “WHEN SHE WALKS TO THE DOOR, SHE’S GOT 20 FOOTBALL PLAYERS OPENING THE DOORS FOR HER. IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL, SO MUCH LOVE THERE.” Stan Boney-WKBN 27 first news: Lexi has also works FOR the handicapped. For Christmas and her birthday — all she wants are letters — because of what they say. Lexi Krosky-Columbiana High Graduate: “THAT YOU’RE AWESOME, I MISS YOU, I’M PRAYING FOR YOU, GET BETTER.” Stan Boney-WKBN 27 first news: To get to her bedroom — you have to pass through her door of fame. Lexi’s a huge Full House fan. She was on the set recently — and took a picture with the cast. There are also pictures with Nicki Minaj, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Sandler. Rachel Krosky-Lexi’s Mom: “FOR HER TO GET A DIPLOMA AND TO GRADUATE WITH HONORS. THAT’S AMAZING. I’M SO HONORED I GET TO BE HER MOM, I GET TO SEE THIS STUFF. SO I’M VERY LUCKY.” [C5]20170526 COLUMBIANA GRAD-TAG The graduation standards for students with disabilities are different than for students without. But nonetheless there are standards — and Lexi graduated with a GPA above a 3.5. What now for Lexi? Well, possibly work for the Purple Cat, and maybe take some online classes at YSU.
