Consumer Review: Technical Fellow “Pertino is an Easy-to-Deploy Virtual Cloud Network”

I’m Scott Alan Miller. I’m a Technical
Fellow for Niagara Technology Group. We’re a global consultancy and MSP for small, medium
businesses. We help customers with everything from day-to-day help desk to networking needs,
storage, security, consulting, those sorts of things. So what we used to use, what we
used for a long time was open VPN, which is a free open source VPN product and that worked
out ok for us. We came across Pertino, we had some conversations with the staff at Pertino.
They let us try the product, something that might help solve the pain points that we were
having with our open VPN solution. It lowered the amount of time it took to deploy it, it
made it more resilient, it solved a lot of our technical issues and allowed us to take
the engineers out of the equation and instead switch to our regular helpdesk technicians
and desktop support technicians and have them roll out the product. So it became much more
cost effective for us to maintain and to deploy. Pertino gives us even better visibility into
our virtual network which is great, because now we’re able to move to the traditional
model of looking at our people and how they’re connected. But now we’re able to look at
it from a device perspective. So getting started with Pertino was really easy. We just went
onto the website, download the client, you go to install it and it just asks you for
your name and your email address and you’re setup immediately with a new account. Open
VPN for example, you have to create an infrastructure, which may take five to ten hours of an engineer’s
time and then you have to deploy the client’s, specifically with key generation and stuff
on each machine and even just documenting that takes about thirty to forty minutes per
machine to do, it’s a very heavy process. With Pertino, we didn’t have to have an
infrastructure and instead of five hours plus thirty minutes per machine, it was five minutes
per machine and in ten minutes we had a working VPN. Wherever they are they stay connected.
They don’t have to worry about getting connected because Pertino takes care of that. It was
in our older models we were spending large numbers of hours of engineering time, which
is very expensive. With Pertino we were able to change large engineering hours into small
technician hours. So it’s not just a reduction in hours it’s the type of hours. To me,
the power of Pertino is really that it takes the infrastructure of the network, it creates
a virtual network and moves it into a cloud environment. I am Scott Alan Miller and my
network is in the Pertino cloud.
