Ethan O’Connell, Quinsigamond Community College

Hi I am Ethan O’Connell and I go to Quinsigamond Community College In Worcester When I went to Community College I was unsure that I could succeed in school I was only confident in my inability to succeed and not only did I learn that I could succeed but Quinsigamond Community College allowed me to really flourish and tap into the potential that I didn’t know I had. I was really astounded by the level of scholarship that takes place there I have very small classes, I am able to interact with my professors and the other students there are great as well. And so it really has been an excellent experience. I’ve done a number of things through the school. I’ve been very involved with the Phi Beta Kappa chapter which is the two year honor society and for that I was awarded the number one research project in New England as well as I was part of the top chapter. Some other things I have done at QCC, I’ve helped co-found a 501(c)(3) non-profit for veterans and because a lot of veterans go to community colleges I wouldn’t have had that opportunity had I gone straight to a four year school I would not have interacted with that population. I’ve also helped out with a lot of research projects and I’ve conducted my own research in psychology which I didn’t realize would be an opportunity at a community college but there certainly are opportunities for independent research.
