Gov. Orders Flags At Half-Staff To Honor Col. Leo Thorsness

THOSE ARE ALWAYS FUN VIDEOS. MINNESOTANS ARE HONORING AND REMEMBERING A MAN WHO DEEPLY LOVED HIS COUNTRY. GOVERNOR DAYTON ORDERED ALL STATE AND FEDERAL FLAGS IN MINNESOTA AT HALF STAFF IN MEMORY OF CORNELL LEO. HE WAS A FIGHTER PILOT DURING THE VIETNAM WAR. HE WAS AWARDED FOR PROTECTING CREW MEMBERS BY SHOOTING DOWN ENEMY PLANES, DESPITE BEING LOW ON FUEL. DAYS AFTER THAT HEROIC ACT HIS PLANE WAS SHOT DOWN. HE BECAME A POW. HE WAS THE ONLY LIVING MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT IN MINNESOTA. HE TOLD US IN 2016 THAT IS A HEAVY ONE TO WEAR. EVERY TIME I PUT IT ON I THINK ABOUT THE DAY I GOT IT AND REMEMBER THE DAY THAT DIDN’T MAKE IT. I THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO DIED IN COMBAT. HE WOULD HAVE TURNED 86 TODAY. GOVERNOR DAYTON ORDERED ALL FLAGS AT HALF STAFF.
