Hope Lodge® & Pampered Chef

(slow piano music) (muffled talking) (cheering) (muffled talking) (laughing) – These are notes from the students to help motivate me to beat this cancer. (students talking in hallway) – I knew I had to push through to be a good example for them. My name is Delmar, and I’m
a two-time cancer survivor. One morning, my lymph node
on my right leg swole up. (cheering) – It was told to me that I would have to do
a stem cell transplant which would require me to stay
in Charleston for 100 days. (yelling) I knew I couldn’t afford
to stay in a hotel. It was overwhelming because I didn’t know what was the next step. The American Cancer Society helped me by allowing me to stay at the Hope Lodge. Get a hug, where’s my hug? (chuckle) They offered me a place to stay for free while I received my stem cell treatment. Coming to the Hope Lodge, I
knew I was in the right place. (school band playing) I had a great life before, but when you’re diagnosed with cancer, it has the ability to take away everything that you love so much. I got that same level of
support that I got at home at the Hope Lodge. (hands slap together) (laughing) (bright upbeat music)
