– Right now, people ask
that question very often, how often should a woman get a mammogram? One of our radiologists just came back from a
conference in Florida. And the rule of thumb still is that we follow the American
Cancer Society guidelines which is annually. Usually between 40 and 55 the patients are getting the
biggest bang for their buck. We see a lot of changes in women’s breasts between those ages. Women are going through
pre-menopausal, post-menopausal. So if you look at the statistics, the average age of a woman
with breast cancer is about 53. And so it becomes a critical
factor in that age group to get their yearly mammograms.
