DOZENS OF ABANDONED KITTENS AND CATS LEFT AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF GREATER DAYTON… SOME FLEA INFESTED, SOME TERRIFIED OF THEIR UNKNOWN SURROUNDINGS, ALL IN NEED OF A LOVING HOME. IT’S CLEARLY A SIGN OF FRUSTRATION FROM THOSE WHO FEEL STUCK IN THE SYSTEM. THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY ANIMAL RESOURCE CENTER RECENTLY STOPPED ACCEPTING CATS, POSSIBLY LEADING TO FRUSTRATIONS WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF FELINES. CARE FOR THE RESCUED CATS COULD COST THE HUMANE SOCIETY MORE THAN $3 THOUSAND DOLLARS, BITING INTO FUNDS FOR OTHER ANIMALS AT THE SHELTHER.AN INFLUX OF 20 CATS THAT QUICKLY IS HARD FOR ANY SHELTHER TO HANDLE.ABANDONING ANIMALS ISN’T JUST EXPENSIVE, IT’S ILLEGAL.
