Humane Society investigators track down “dangerous” pit bull

SOUTH OMAHA NEIGHBORHOOD HAS BEEN ON EDGE AFTER A SERIES OF DOG ATTACKS. THE ATTACKS WERE SO SERIOUS, ANIMAL CONTROL GOT INVOLVED, ALONG WITH INVESTIGATORS FROM THE HUMANE SOCIETY. THE DOG RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTACKS WAS A PIT BULL. AND ITS OWNER ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO HIDE THE DOG — EVEN WHEN AUTHORITIES HAD A SEARCH WARRANT TO FIND IT. AS BRANDON SCOTT REPORTS, INVESTIGATORS HAVE FINALLY FOUND THE DOG. THE PIT BULL IS CURRENTLY IN CUSTODY HERE AT THE NEBRASKA HUMANE SOCIETY AND ITS OWNER FACES CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR HARBORING A DANGEROUS ANIMAL ACCORDING TO THESE COURT DOCUMENTS, THE DOG IS A TAN AND WHITE PIT BULL NAMED “SNOOPY.” BUT DON’T LET THE CUTE NAME FOOL YOU. ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS SAY SNOOPY IS BEHIND SEVERAL DOG ATTACKS IN SOUTH OMAHA. THE MOST RECENT ATTACK WAS JUST TWO WEEKS AGO, INJURING THIS DOG NAMED SHILOH. AFTER THE ATTACK, SHILOH’S OWNERS CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL AND INVESTIGATORS OBTAINED A SEARCH WARRANT TO LOOK FOR THE DOG AT THE HOME OF PABLO RAMIREZ. ACCORDING TO THIS SEARCH WARRANT INVENTORY, WHEN INVESTIGATORS FINALLY DID MAKE THEIR WAY INSIDE, THE PITBULL WASN’T THERE. WHEN WE TRIED TO FIND TO SNOOPY’S OWNER, NO ONE WAS HOME. BUT LATER, A MAN SHOWED UP WHO DIDN’T WANT TO TALK. 49 IS THE DOG DANGEROUS? NOPE. EVEN THOUGH IT’S ON RECORD AS ATTACKING PEOPLE? IT’S JUST ITS INSTINCT – ATTACKING OTHER DOGS. JUST HIS INSTINCT WE SEE OWNER RESPONSIBILITY EVERY SINGLE DAY HERE AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY. VERY FRUSTRATING FOR US, BECAUSE THE DOGS ARE SET UP TO FAIL. MARK LANGAN INVESTIGATED THE CASE FOR THE NEBRASKA HUMANE SOCIETY. HE WOULDN’T SHOW US THE PIT BULL, BUT RALPH JANOUSEK AND KATHY MATHEWS HAVE SEEN IT AND ARE TERRIFIED OF IT. THEY LIVE JUST TWO DOORS AWAY FROM THE DOG’S OWNER. PEOPLE SAY “IT’S THE WAY YOU RAISE THEM.” THAT’S NOT TRUE. THAT’S BRED INTO THOSE PIT BULLS. THEY’RE DANGEROUS ANIMALS. IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE WE KNOW THE FATE OF THIS PIT BULL. A JUDGE WILL ULTIMATELY DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT THE DOG WILL BE PUT DOWN. REPORTING WITH PRODUCER ROGER HAMER, I’M BRANDON SCOTT, WOWT 6 NEWS. THE NEBRASKA HUMANE SOCIETY TELLS US CASES LIKE THIS ARE ALWAYS THEIR MOST DIFFICULT. AND IT IS POLICY NOT TO ALLOW PHOTOS OF VIDEO OF ANIMALS WHICH HAVE BEEN CLASSIFIED AS “DANGEROUS” AND MIGHT BE
