Humane Society of Central Oregon

They are the faces of the abandoned, the helpless, the lost. These are the animals of our community the lives we are here to care so humanely for. For we are the Humane Society of Central Oregon. and only with your help do they get our help. Every day we care for abandoned, neglected, unwanted,
and abused animals. Through education and outreach we endeavor
to inspire a community towards the responsible care of all animals. This is our mission. For fifty years we’ve helped animals in desperate need of the most basic
elements of life. Shelter, food, medicine, or simply loveShe was definitely a little nervous and kind of scared of people. I wasn’t sure. I really
like her but I was nervous that how much training she would needed and how much we would be able to do it. But within three days she just immediately started coming around. It was almost as if it was the absence of love in her life
all she needed. She needed to get that changed. With love in her life she became a different dog entirely right away. She just adds so much to our family and it’s really hard to imagine life without her. I take her for a walk everyday after work and I look forward to it so much. We have so much fun going together. She’s our girl aren’t you?Serving the community and its animals the Humane Society of Central Oregon takes it’s mission wherever it’s needed. From the pet assistance program to the education program to the
pet visiting program, with your support these services continue to change the lives
of the people and animals in our community. I started dropping by the Humane Society just looking for a specific cat you know a gray one a kitten and when I saw this kitten in the cage it was just bouncing around playing all over the place and I thought you know that’s what we’re looking
for and so I was just willing to wait. Really didn’t hear about what his situation
was other than what I got off the TV about the Madras cats I realized that there was a lot of problems that that they were
working through getting him healed up and he was worth waiting for. They were very very good about addressing all of my concerns answered all my questions. They would tell me how he was doing. We’re really enjoying him Actually he has turned into part dog because
when wants to play sometimes he will bring his mouse to me so I can throw it. Pretty soon he gets tired and hides his mouse. He’ll calm down and sit with me or crawl on me and watch TV
with me, entertain Thelma. He needed a good home and he really likes it here and we like having him.The Humane Society of Central Oregon is often
the first caring environment these animals ever see The state-of-the-art facility and experience of our staff and volunteers
provide everything necessary for their recovery and reintroduction into life. Each animal that comes through our door is in need With our people facilities and you we’re able to meet those needs every day.Well of course I had reservations first of all whether or
not I was ready for a dog but when I saw him I thought am I ready
for a big dog as he’s now licking my hand off camera and a dog that had been running free
for three years that had never been touched. What would the socialization problems be? We walked in the house. Everything was fine.
It went so much better than I thought. He sniffed around and I showed him
where his bed was and his toys his food and his dishes. He just thought that was great. He sat down
and looked at me and he just gave me one big kiss. It’s as if he just knew this was home. I can just can’t tell you how wonderful he’s been for me. It’s as if he and I can read each other’s minds. I swear he’s a very smart dog It’s unbelievable the difference
he’s made in my life, and I hope I’ve made a difference in his.Helping the helpless that’s why we exist to bring comfort to provide safety to deliver care to find a home.
