Humane Society volunteer wins award for shelter


A VOLUNTEER WITH THE SPOKANE HUMANE SOCIETY WON THE SHELTER A 10-THOUSAND-DOLLAR AWARD. HILL’S PET NUTRITION NATIONAL SHELTER HEROES EACH OF THE WINNERS GETS TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THEIR SHELTER. THE SPOKANE HUMANE SOCIETY WILL USE THE MONEY TO IMPROVE THE KENNELS. STOWELL AND HER HUSBAND WENT TO THE SHELTER IN 2009 TO ADOPT. AND THEY WERE IMMEDIATELY DRAWN TO HELPING THE DOGS. It’s so rewarding and wonderful to see dogs that come in with fear, anxiety, anything like that and take them from here to there so that they’re ready to be adopted. It’s really a good feeling to know you made a difference in an animal’s life. JANIE IS NOW RETIRED AND SPENDS ABOUT FIVE DAYS A WEEK HELPING OUT AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY.
