Jade, BA (Hons) Animal Welfare and Society

I think what makes me feel most alive is
travelling I think that and being able to go to all different countries and see
what different cultures I think it’s really important to see how diverse the
world is and experience everything that it has to offer so far I volunteered in
Thailand with elephants and also with the dogs there and I’m going back to Sri
Lanka in a couple of months time to work with street dogs I like to help in
countries where they’re suffering and the animals are suffering as a result I
grew up not far from Winchester and I so I’ve always known Winchester pretty much
my whole life I think it’s a great little city and there’s so much to do
it’s beautiful so you can walk somewhere like this or you can go into town and
go shopping and have some food the campus is right in the middle of that I
think that it’s openly encouraged to be yourself equality and spirituality and
diversity and all of those things are encouraged and you know that the second
you walk in so I live off campus about 15 minutes away as long as your
on time to your lectures then that’s great it’s super easy to get to but I’ve never felt
excluded from the university I’ve always felt like there’s plenty of societies
and events and things for me to go to so I don’t necessarily miss out on anything
by not living on campus also I’m a mature student as well so I also think
that it’s important for other people my age to know that you can go back and
study something if you you know have a change of heart or there’s something you
always loved that you never followed through on and I think that it’s openly
encouraged and you don’t get excluded at all for being much all there I think
that you can have exactly the same university experience at my age not that I am that old.
