Link between domestic violence and terrorism in the spotlight

What was very interesting about the
reaction to the talk today was the breadth of knowledge in the audience so
there were former police officers, there were people who worked in courts as well
as the students and they asked quite a wide range of questions and brought up
points that I hadn’t even thought of. It was a very knowledgeable, very engaged
audience which is exactly what you want. When the book came out, I wasn’t
really sure what to expect and one of the things that happened which has been
very gratifying is a number of academics including George [Kassimeris] got in touch
with me and I was really impressed by the spirit in which they approached the
book because they have spent their lives studying terrorism – I’m
relatively new to it and what George and other academics have said to
me is that they were very surprised that I made this link between domestic
violence and terrorism and then they read the book and it suddenly became
obvious. What that tells me is that, you know, I think I’m some way along the
path to doing what I hoped which is to expand the way people and experts on
terrorism look at the subject.
