Medal of Honor: Sgt. 1st Class Monti

Sergeant 1st Class Jared Monti will posthumously receive the Medal of Honor for service in Afghanistan. Fellow soldiers remember Monti as a man of outstanding character. He was dedicated to his soldiers and he led by setting the example, you know? He led by example, not by exemption, and he was selfless, and those are the three things that I remember. He didn’t have to be out there every day with his boys cleaning those mill vans up, putting everything back together, but he was. He was out there with the wood and the hammer building shelves, hoping they were straight; sometimes they were, sometimes they weren’t. People could just tell people to do that, but he was like, “No, this is what we’re going to do today.” And he was out front. He led out front every time. That’s a 60-second Army Now. 1. I didn't even know he got it… I never got to meet the guy personally, but anyone that has served with him said he was the best and always talked highly of him… rest in peace brother.
