The National Institute of Health
released recent data from 2012 to 2016 and about 30% of new cancer diagnosis
were in women younger than age 54. Also, the American Cancer Society had some
recent data and they are seeing a slight increase in trend and women younger than
40 getting breast cancer. I also think it’s partly that women in this age group
are surviving more and more so we’re hearing more about it. We still recommend
that women over 40 get an annual mammogram. We also recommend that women
really talk to their providers about their breast cancer risk.
