It’s actually really awesome to see so many
people trying to support such a good cause and know that we’re all unified
and trying to find a cure for cancer. Today we have Relay for Life
it’s basically an event where we walk laps around the room fundraising to
raise money to fight back against cancer. A lot of people are just trying to have
fun right now and they’re trying to you know promote their tables trying to make
as much money as possible and just I mean we’re just happy and having fun.
These young people are the cutting edge of that new group of students coming to
college and they recognize society and the world it’s important to them not
their little world or their little video game. Seeing all these people fighting
back against this disease that takes over somebody so many people’s lives is
amazing I could bring me to tears with all the people that are in there
fighting back for cancer. As you might gather by the way I look I am not yet a
survivor but I am in the process of being treated for breast cancer and
seeing you all here he is very supportive it was really powerful to see
provost Edwards stand up in front of us in the vulnerable state that she’s in
it’s awesome and it’s inspiring and it’s really put some power to why we’re here.
The money that you raised tonight goes towards understanding a better cure ten
years ago my diagnosis would have been a death sentence
and thanks to the money and the research that went on my diagnosis means that I
have a 95% chance of full recovery.
