Phi Theta Kappa: Leading the Way

Phi Theta Kappa: Leading the Way

(soothing music) – Phi Theta Kappa is
the only honors society for two-year colleges,
and it’s pretty amazing because to be a part of
it, you have to earn it. And once you’ve earned
it, you’ll be invited and to do that you need 12
associate degree credits behind you and a 3.5 cumulative GPA. So if you’ve been invited,
you know that you have your nose to the grindstone and you’re doing the right things. I was able to personally
grow in huge ways, leaps and bounds, attend conferences on a regional
and international level, and network with people
I never thought I’d meet in my entire life. – One of the four hallmarks
of Phi Theta Kappa is actually leadership,
and our members do have the opportunity to be
a leader in any kind of capacity that they want
to be in our chapter and even outside of our chapter. We have many officer positions
that become available. You can be on our leadership
team and we also have positions available at the regional and international level as well. We recently did a project
with the current students here at Fox Valley Tech,
where we had everyone fill out a star, which was
basically a self-evaluation focusing on what their goals are, what they’re proud of about themselves and what they want to work on, and it was really a
very revealing process. – The advisors of Phi Theta Kappa here at Fox Valley Tech are amazing people. They go the distance. Excellent people to have in your corner. If ever you need support, ever
you need anyone to turn to, they are the resource
that is there for you. I found a piece of myself
here that I was missing and Phi Theta Kappa is
a huge part of that.
