Ross County Humane Society gears up to help animals displaced by Hurricane Harvey

GOOD MORNING FROM THE ROSS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY. IT IS TIME FOR MAX’S MISSION. THIS WEEK TAKES US DOWN ROUTE 23 BECAUSE OF HURRICANE HASHY. ROSS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY IS DOING SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL. CHECKING A LOT OF DONATIONS AND GEARING UP TO LEAVE FOR TEXAS TOMORROW SO WE WANTED TO COME HERE AND TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY NEED FROM YOU IN ORDER TO MAKE THEIR MISSION HAPPEN. MAX ALWAYS LOVES TO FIND DOGS FOREVER HOMES. HE ALSO LIKES TO HELP THOSE DOGS WHILE THEY’RE IN NEED AND THEY DON’T HAVE THAT FOREVER HOME. SO TODAY, WE ARE FEATURING ONE OF THEIR NEW PUPPIES AT THE SOCIETY RIGHT BEHIND ME. THAT IS HARVEY. HE NEED AS FOREVER HOME AS SO MANY DOGS HERE AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY BECAUSE RIGHT NOW THEY’RE GEARING UP TO BRING DOGS BACK FROM TEXAS, AND THEY NEED YOUR HELP TO BE ABLE TO CLEAR OUT THEIR SHELTER SO THEY CAN MAKE ROOM FOR THEM SO WE’RE GOING TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT HARVEY TODAY. AS THE ROSS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY GEARS UP TO HELP THE VICTIMS IN TEXAS, WE’RE TRYING TO GET A DOG ADOPTED NAMED HARVEY. IT IS FITTING. SO TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HIM. SO HARVEY IS A 4-MONTH-OLD PITBULL MIX. HE WAS FOUND BY ONE OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WHILE HE WAS WORKING, HIM AND HIS SIBLINGS HAD BEEN DUMPED IN A CEMETERY AND THEY CALLED ON MY DAY OFF AND SAID CAN WE PLEASE BRING THESE DOGS IN AND I SAID ABSOLUTELY. SOMETHING TELLS ME THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON CALL FOR YOU? NO, IT IS NOT. IT IS AN EVERY DAY THING HERE. HARVEY SEEMS SWEET. WHAT HAVE YOU NOTICED ABOUT HIM? HE IS VERY SHY. HE IS GOING TO NEED SOMEBODY TO GIVE HIM A LITTLE TIME TO TRUST. HIS SIBLINGS ARE THE SAME WAY. HE IS A VERY FRIENDLY DOG. HE HAS BEEN PLAYING WITH YOUR DOG HERE. HE HAS DONE WELL. HE HAS BEEN LAYING AROUND, LETTING ME PET HIM. HE SEEMS TO LIKE PEOPLE. WE HAVEN’T HAD ANY ISSUES. HE IS JUST KIND OF CHILLING WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO TAKE HIM HOME. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY YOUR FAVORITE THING IS ABOUT THIS LITTER THAT YOU HAVE? THE LITTER OF PUPPIES WE HAVE NOW? YES. I HAVE OWNED PITBULLS FOR 15 YEARS. ANYTIME WE GET PITBULL PUPPIES WE CAN, WE WANT TO DO THE BEST WE CAN TO GET THEM INTO HOMES AND GET THEM SPAYED OR NEUTER SOD THEY’RE NOT CONTRIBUTING TO OUR OVER PEP POPULATION. THEY ARE VERY ACTIVE DOGS, BUT THEY ARE VERY REWARDING. THEY CAN BE GREAT MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY. THEY JUST NEED STRUCTURE AND A LOVING ENVIRONMENT TO GROW UP IN. YOU’RE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A JOURNEY THAT REALLY HAS BECOME SOMEWHAT OF A FULL-TIME JOB FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS, SO YOU WANT TO MAKE A ROT OF ROOM FOR THE DOGS YOU’RE GOING TO BRING BACK. TELL US ABOUT THAT. WE’RE HOPING TO BRING BACK 20 DOGS FROM TEXAS, MAYBE MORE IF WE HAVE OTHER GROUPS THAT EACH OUT TO US. WE CURRENTLY HAVE SPACE TO TAKE THE DOGS, BUT WE WOULD LOVE FOR PEOPLE TO COME IN AND KIND OF MAKE SPACE FOR THE DOGS THAT WE’RE GOING TO BE RELIEVING FROM TEXAS. YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRETTY FULL TO CAPACITY THIS SUMMER. WE HAVE BEEN. THE WHOLE REASON A LOT OF THIS STARTED IS WHENEVER WE’RE FULL, WE PUT THAT CRY OUT FOR PEOPLE THAT WE NEED HELP. THEY ALWAYS COME, WHETHER IT IS FROM NEW YORK, MICHIGAN, INDIANA. IT DOESN’T MATTER. WHENEVER WE SAY, HEY, WE HAVE A NEED, PEOPLE SHOW UP. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE THE SPACE, THE AVAILABILITY AND PEOPLE JUST WANT TO HELP. AS CENTRAL OHIOANS WE ALWAYS SEEM TO BAND TOGETHER. ADOPT HARVEY AND OTHER DOGS THAT ARE IN THE SHELTER AS WELL STOO. WE HAVE ABOUT 62 DOGS NOW IN HOUSE, I BELIEVE. THANK YOU SO MUCH. IF ANYONE WANTS ANYMORE INFORMATION BEFORE THEY COME TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY, WHAT CAN THEY DO IF THEY’RE LOOKING TO ADOPT HARVEY OR ANYONE SNELLS. THEY CAN GO TO OUR WEB SITE. IT IS ROSS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY. ORG. ALL OF OUR AVAILABLE DOGS ARE LISTED ON THERE AS WELL AS THE ADOPTION APPLICATION. SERIOUSLY? WHO COULD SAY NO TO THIS FACE? OH, HE IS SO SWEET. HE IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME AS SHE SAID. IF YOU NEED ANYMORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO ADOPT LITTLE HARVEY HERE OR EVEN HOW TO HELP THE ROSS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY IN THEIR EFFORTS TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE HARVEY IN TEXAS, YOU CAN JUST HEAD OVER TO MY FACEBOOK PAGE, SITAT HATTIE HAWKS NBC 4. I WILL HAVE THAT INFORMATION THERE FOR YOU AND ALSO COMING UP THROUGHOUT THIS MORNING, WE’RE GOING TO BE TALKING MORE ABOUT HOW YOU CAN HELP THE VICTIMS OF HARVEY AND ALSO HOW YOU CAN HELP THOSE
