‘Run The Rocks’ Included Woman Diagnosed At 32 With Lung Cancer

RAIN MIXED IN COMING UP NEXT SUNDAY. GREAT. IT IS HERE. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. SOME FAMILIAR FACES WERE AT RED ROCKS THIS MORNING FOR A RUN ON THE ROCKS. THE EVENT RAISE MORE THAN $100,000 FOR THE AMERICAN LUNG AND HEART ASSOCIATION IN COLORADO TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE AIR WE BREATHE. AMONG THOSE PARTICIPATING WAS A MOTHER OF TWO FROM CASTLEROCK. SHE HAS NEVER SMOKED BUT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUNG CANCER AT 32 YEARS OLD. OUR TOTAL HAS HER STORY. ANYONE WITH LUNGS CAN GET LUNG CANCER. IT IS NOT JUST A SMOKERS DISEASE. ORIGINALLY JAMIE THOUGHT THE STOMACH PAIN SHE WAS EXPERIENCING WAS FROM HAVING TWO BABIES VIA SIX SECTION. I HAD BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR ALMOST A YEAR. FINALLY MY HUSBAND SAID, GO INTO THE DOCTOR. THAT IS IT WOULD LEAD TO SEVERAL SCANS. ULTIMATELY REVEALING CANCER AT THE BASE OF HER LEFT LUNG. I RAN OVER AND HELD HER AS TIGHT AS I COULD. I WAS REALLY, ALL I WAS SAYING WAS IT WAS GOING TO BE FINE. BUT I DIDN’T KNOW. JAMIE AND SEES TWO CHILDREN JUST ONE INTO YEARS OLD AT THE TIME. ALL OF THOSE THOUGHTS GO THROUGH YOUR MIND US, ARE THEY GOING TO HAVE A MOM? AM I GOING TO HAVE ALL THESE MILESTONES? JAMIE WOULD GO THROUGH TWO SURGERIES TO REMOVE THE LEFT LOBE OF HER LUNG. SO FAR, THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER SIGNS OF CANCER. WHAT GIVES ME HOPE IS HER SPIRIT. CANCER WASN’T TAKING HER DOWN. THROUGH IT ALL, THE REPLACE LEARNED THEY WERE NOT ALONE. OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY WERE AMAZING. THE MEALS, EVERY SINGLE DAY, SHOWING UP ON THE DOORSTEP, YOU ARE SAD WHEN THAT ENDED. WE HAVE SOME VERY GOOD COOKS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THEY ALSO LEARNED THAT WITH LIFE, PERSPECTIVE IS EVERYTHING. IF ANYTHING, THAT IS A BLESSING THAT HAS COME FROM THIS. YOU REALLY DO TAKE IN ALL OF THE GOOD AND THE NEGATIVES? THEY DON’T MATTER AS MUCH. YOU JUST THING, GOSH, LIFE IS SHORT. YOU KNOW? JUST TAKE A CHANCE. DO THE THINGS YOU WANT TO DO.
