SPLASH: In a coworker’s darkest hour, Michelle Fortier was a beacon of light


[Marc Edelman] According to research the average person spends one third of their life at work. That is more than 90,000 hours over a
lifetime. No wonder our co-workers become extended family members. People we come
to know well and care about. Michele, Lead OR intervention radiographer,
Northern Light Imaging, has set the standard for thoughtfulness in her
department. One of his Michelle’s coworkers have been struggling with serious health
issues. Michele took the lead on helping her co-worker and friend through many
challenges. She organized efforts to raise money, arrange for the purchase of
a recliner assisted with carpooling to medical treatments, and even helped
organize yard work and pet-sitting services. The entire department looked to
you as the lead in these efforts. A role that you were proud of and excelled in, and still do today. The whole team acknowledges and respects the wonderful
characteristics of love Michele has for those around her, says Sue Dow,
director, Northern Light Imaging, who nominated Michele for a Splash award. She
has truly displayed the meaning behind remarkable for her compassion,
dedication and care for this co-worker. We are so fortunate to have her on our team
and we appreciate all she brings to our department. Michele is a great example of
a positive affect one person can have, not only for a friend in need but for
all those around her. For her thoughtfulness, compassion, and concern
for others we are pleased to present Michele with a Splash award, Northern Light
Eastern Maine Medical Center’s highest honor. The moral of the story, “Never lose sight of the
fact that most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat
people; your family friends and co-workers and even strangers you meet
