Studying Community Welfare: Keegan’s Testimonial

My work here at the Matthew Talbot Hostel
I’m currently a Case Worker. I originally started as a Support Worker down stairs so this
is a Crisis Accommodation for the homeless men. There’s a lot of amazing people who
do amazing work here and now I can say I’m one of them. Some of our tasks is feedings so the guys come and
have three meals a day, we offer them showers, accommodation, laundry services, a drop-in centre so
so that’s open for females as well as men obviously. I definitely feel like my degree has prepared me for working in the field. When your
sitting at your desk, doing client assessments or writing a support letter it’s like ‘oh yes, it makes sense’, so it did definitely help me. For people
who wanna study in the field, don’t be scared to try new things. If you wanna with whatever group it is, keep that as your
final placement. Every experience counts at the end of the day. You get to see how every organisation works and get
to take that and feed it across your working staff.
