Training Program for Child Welfare Boosted by Grant

(soft music) This grant will fund operation of the state’s Child Protection and Safety Training Program led by the university’s Center on Children, Families, and the Law. This is such important work and is a great example of the university partnering with the state of Nebraska to improve lives for all Nebraskans. This center was created in 1987 and I think it’s one of the earliest interdisciplinary centers that we have on the campus, bringing together faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences, Law, and Education and Human Sciences, and research at the intersection of these traditional disciplines is critical to solving society’s greatest challenges. What started as this very small operation has grown into a statewide training program that includes in-classroom training, online training, both synchronous and asynchronous, simulation, experiential work, self-paced, online learning that is really top, state of the art and it’s supported all along by our amazing field training staff throughout the state who work with HHS workers to get them to be able to provide the kind of services that our family and children here in the state need. (applause) This is one of the many, many things that the University of Nebraska Lincoln does as a partner to our state. (soft music)
