UK CoCreating Welfare event highlights

this event is all around sharing and
celebrating the co-creation tools that has been created as part of the Co-Creating
Welfare project but also a means for other people to share their tools and
for us to develop a network co-creation for us it is about involving everybody from
the very beginning throughout a process that are developing any kind of solution be
that design solution or a service and it means that if you get the right group of
people in the same space you can get consensus on what’s actually needed you can
understand what’s actually needed and the solutions that you eventually reach
will be more appropriate and more effective. So it’s been really interesting
found out from some of the presentations about some of the really interesting and
innovative work that’s happening around co-design especially stuff that’s
happening in research and here in Coventry University it’s been really
really inspiring different ways of thinking and different projects that I
want to follow up and learn more about a lot of the activities a lot of the
presentations have been practical activities so actually given us an
insight into how we can embed some of these methods and some of the tools that
we’ve been talking about and we’ve also done some activities in
group work which has been really fun especially the last activity that we did
which was using a cube we were looking at co-design and what some of the
problems and barriers there might be within kind of organizational cultures
to that today’s event has been great to meet a new set of people I haven’t met
before it’s been great to learn about what other things are going on around
the country one of our main aims is really to try and support the social
movement in this area of co-creation and co-production so that social movement
nationally you know there are pieces of work going on but are they really joined
up and if we can help that through meeting people at events like this then
that’s really really beneficial our culture in the NHS a number of years
ago was very much doing to people and for people and they were moving to doing
with and that’s very different skill set and host in those conversations don’t
think co-creation is difficult but it’s just having the confidence to host that
space really and in fact people this whole event has been co-created and
co-developed by all the people who joined the co-creation course and they
also co-created that course so staying with that philosophy they have created
an amazing day I think it’s been really well received by everybody
