(Pastor) Here were Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. In both of those passages the 10 commandments is written. Now, the Lord gave alot more than 10 commandments, but the ones that the most important for us-I won’t say most important-the ones that He wants us to really take a hold of were the ten commandments. And, if we kept those, all of the others would kinda’ fall in place. Let’s look at the Deuteronomy; it’s simpler-it’s written more simply than the one. You can start with four, five, and six. (Reader) “The Lord talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire, (I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying, I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt have none other gods before me. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.” (Pastor) Now, when he started out saying he looked at face-to-face…it’s…it’s like uh…really what he’s saying is, it’s an old term for, “He spoke to him straight in person,” like I’m talkin’ to you. The Lord has picked certain people throughout history to talk to not only that they hear Him, but they see Him and they talk to Him. And it’s not necessarily favoritism-it’s really He has certain ones to carry certain messages. And so, uh…In our case, He has spoken to me and He has appeared to me several times. And, uh…He said He didn’t want us to become a megachurch. ‘Cause I asked Him. I said, “Lord we used to have a lot more people than we got now. Then when they left, how come You didn’t re-fill it?” So He said, “I’ve got enough mega-churches. I’ve got something different for you guys.” And so, He didn’t both to explain me what that meant, and I didn’t ask him. (chuckles) There’s some things you, uh…where God is talking…sometimes you can ask Him certain things, but sometimes you gotta’ be wise. So, uh…He said that we were a special covenant of His-a personal covenant of His. And so, whatever He has for us to do, it won’t be long. There’s a purch…purpose in everything we’re doing. And, He had me, uh…just floatin’ along, doing regular things for a long time, but then He has…He suddenly started telling me I could start speaking about it. I think, really I spoke more when I came uh…on my last trip uh…to Richmond. I think I spoke more about what the Lord did and said to me than ever before-I mean than any other time. I didn’t exhaust it all; it’s a lot more. But…I…He wanted me…He let me say what I did say. Now, the ten commandments were given because He wants…He wants, uhh…It’s a special thing in His heart that we learn what it means about the ten commandments. And He gave each one for a purpose. Now, the one I want to talk about tonight is number 5-honor. We have been-I don’t mean us-I mean we, the people in the United States, have been a people that have dishonored what God has said lately…in the last let’s say ten years. And because we haven’t honored Him the way we should, there’s been a lot of uh…things that we could’ve reaped-blessings that we could have reaped-that we didn’t. And we are in a place where we’re almost…uhm…I don’t wanna’ say war, but we’re getting very close to the rapture. He’s spoken to me at least four times and told me, “The rapture’s closer than you think.” And I don’t know exactly what that means, but, He just shows up sometimes and I’ll just be sittin’ there doing things or watchin’ TV even, and He’ll just show up and say, “The rapture’s closer than you think.” And so what do you say? (chuckles) “Okay. Yes, Sir.” (chuckles) So, you know, I was uh…trying to hear Him as to what He wanted me to…to teach tonight. And He…He said it was on honor. And for Him to put the fifth one in His top ten, there’s a…a reason. You know, first He gives the most…THE most important: “I am the Lord Thy God, thou shall have no other god before Me.” He wants that locked into people. “I AM God. I don’t want you having any other god.” You can look at what people have and you can hear what they say, but you do not allow yourselves to be tempted, even, to put somebody before Him because He is THE God and He does not want any kind of attitude of…Like people talking about Islam today and…and a few other religions and they…on the news you hear people exonerating and other gods. There’s even been some Christians-Christian pastors and priests-who have…who have said…almost said like uh… “It’s just like what other people have.” But the Word says, “There’s no other God given among men whose name you are to follow.” I slightly paraphrased that, but…He wants everybody-all of us to know, at least-there is no other God. I mean there’s the Holy Spirit and Jesus, but it’s one God. He manifested Himself in three different forms. And so, the Father is the boss. And, Jesus is the Word-He’s kinda’ like the law. The Holy Spirit produces power things. And whenever you see people do mighty miracles, all through the Bible, the Holy Spirit showed up. And the Spirit of God uh…prompted them or helped them or was involved with it. The power of God is released through the Holy Spirit. Jesus is a law…if you read Genesis 1, you’ll notice that it says, uh… “And God created the heavens and the earth.” And it says, “And the Spirit moved upon the face of the water.” And then, it says, uh…and the Lord spoke and said, “LIGHT BE!” That’s really what it said-not the way it’s written. Uh…You notice the Holy Spirit, although He was mentioned first,…I hope I’m gonna’ give the sermon I planned. (laughter) I’m totally off the direction I was going…supposed to be going. Anyway, uhm…The Holy Spirit-He moved upon the face of the water and He…He kinda molded everything. And it says uh…there’s a word that means He uh…sat on it like a hen does its egg and brooded. But He didn’t make every…anything complete until Jesus spoke. And if you understand that about the Godhead, then it’ll help you understand what you’re s’posed to do and not do. The Holy Spirit is…He’s uh…a very powerful person. And maybe He’s joyous-He’s kind of a…I don’t know how to put it. But He’s kind of a happy person. But very, very powerful. And you won’t…don’t want to get on the wrong side of Him. But the Lord cares so much…the Father cares so much about Him that if you blaspheme Him, you…you’ve had it. You act, He’ll…He’ll take your head off-you act…the axe will take…take you out if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit. He loves the Holy Spirit greatly. And Jesus always loves the Father. I mean they all are one, but if…as far as the way they operate. Jesus, just…anything you ask Jesus He says, “My Father…the Father says…Father wants this.” When you talk to the Holy Spirit, He always says, “Jesus.” And Jes…and the Father always tal…says, “My Spirit.” And they are all locked together, as one. And they think as one. Even though they’re…they are one, yet they have three separate personalities. There was this guy on TV; he was a, uh…missionary. And the Lord took Him up to heaven and He was there for almost a week. And He…He learned one thing-that the Father always sits on the throne. Jesse Duplantis went up there and he learned that same thing. So, now when, uh…he got ready to go home, uh…a angel was walking with him and he said, uh…the angel spoke, he said, “The Father wants to talk to you.” So, he said he just assumed he was going back to the throne. He said, “No. No. He’s gonna’ meet you.” And he said he turned around and the Father was walking down the street. It’s like a promenade. And he looked over at the throne, where the Father sits, and He was still there. And he looked down there and He was coming. And he looked over there and He was there. He said, “I’m not even gon’ ask about that.” (laughter) So the fact that He’s three-in-one is ’cause He chose to be that. He could’a been 50 if He’s wanted to be. But He wanted us to understand Him a little bit. And so each One has their purpose for what they’re doing. And, anyway, uh…He wants us to know that there is a specific purpose for our existence. And He wants us to have a confidence that He’s called us and we’re not less than somebody with 5,000 people. That’s just…that’s just what God called them to do; they just have more work to do. We have work to do, too, but it’s…it’s slightly different. And, He said that uhm…just before the rapture, we’re gonna’ come into our glory-whatever that means. So, I’m saying all that to say, if these ten commandments…the fact that He put honor number 5 is not accidental. He wanted us to understand that, if you don’t honor who He said to honor-and it starts with parents-if you don’t learn that, you’re probably not gonna’ honor Him properly. And if you don’t honor Him properly, you got a heap a trouble. (chuckles) So, uh…He…He wants that really brought home to us, that honor is a mighty and important word. It’s something that carries great weight with Him. And we probably could go for two, three, four more weeks on a…just honor, but I’m ‘on just hit some main points tonight. Oh, uhm…open to Exodus 20. Go ahead. (Reader) “And God spake all these words saying, ‘I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me’.” (Pastor) Now, let me say this, when he says “brought you out of Egypt,” Egypt is representative of the world. So, it could be, “He brought us out of the world,” and if you apply it to us. So, I just wanted to say that. Okay, go head. (Reader) “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Pastor) Good. (Reader) “Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal.” (Pastor) Okay. And really, uh…that scripture where it says, “Thou shalt not kill,” it really means thou shalt not “murder.” I hear some people, they say, “But God had, you know, different men of God kill people, so how does He break His own word? He didn’t break His word; He said, really, interpreters have misinterpreted what it meant. And it really means you shall not murder anybody. But He…He commanded them to go in the military and He commanded the police and all of those that represent keeping order. And so, uh…I just thought I’d throw that in. You guys might know that already (laughter) but I thought I’d throw that in for good measure. Anyway, go head. (Reader) “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house…” (Pastor) Okay, go back up here. He starts with thou shall honor thy parents-thy father and thy mother. Read it. (Reader) “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Pastor) Okay, so if you want your days to be long, uh…you need to definitely start honoring people. And definitely honor the Lord and whatever He wants you to…to do or whatever He has, uh…to…has led you to do and to be part of. He starts with children. He starts with children because children are…are most impressionable, number one. Number two, He wants it to mold into the children, so that as they get older, they can uh…you know, kinda be “in” them. I remember, one time, my father was taking me-I don’t remember…somewhere-but we were walking out. As I walked out of his house, there was a big bowl of…big ball of, uh…paper, all waded up and…And so, I’d been kept by my grandparents-as my mother and father, they divorced when I was one. And so, I was raised by my grandparents. And they were pretty strict, but I think that was the Lord’s will. But, uh…so, when I saw that piece of paper, I said, “Oh, I gotta get that.” He said, “What d’you mean, you gotta get?” And I ran over there and grabbed it and ran back to the backyard and dropped it in the can, anyway. He said, “You went through all that just for that piece of paper?” I said, “Yeah, Dad, I didn’t want…it’s kinda cluttering the sidewalk there.” And he…he kinda’ looked at me like he was amazed that I cared that much about a piece of paper. But, it was…it was something that the Lord had put in me, uh…not so much picking up paper, but just (laughter) …but just having everything in order that God would have it to be. And that was just one of the things. Because, the older you get, the more pressures come against you. And, if you don’t learn to honor, uh…what needs to be honored at that time, you’re not gonna’ honor Him properly. Now that’s the way He feels about it. He wants to make sure you grow in honor as you get older. All of you ancient of age already, but… (laughter) …but a (laughter) …I should talk, huh? (laughter) Anyway, so, uh…He wants us to learn honor from a…from youth on up. And one of the reasons this country’s in the shape it’s in is people have stopped honoring the words of the Lord. And, as a result of that, we’re really almost on the verge of war. I don’t know what’s getting ready to happen. (Pastor Pipkin) Hi! You know the Bible says that all things are upheld by the power of this Word? That means when you put the Word in your heart, it will produce life and health to all your flesh. It will also produce faith, so that whatever you come up against you can overcome it. But remember, you won’t have the victory you desire unless you make a decision to not allow anything to get in the way of your intimacy with Jesus, nor allow anything to distract you from your TIME IN THE WORD.
