I’m Mexican-American. I was born here. My mom got here when she was 15 years old. All she’s ever done is work. My mom’s family is undocumented. She’s undocumented, as well. I grew up knowing, my whole life, I grew up being aware that one day my mom could not be here anymore. When my grandmother died, she went back to Mexico. My mom had to cross the border. She couldn’t get across. She tried crossing five times. I was only like, three years old but I was asking “Where’s my mom? Where’s my mom?” There’s a lot of people, who are like “I don’t want to go out there.” “I could get arrested, um, maybe get deported” and they start thinking about all these worst-case scenarios. I’d like to invite everyone, especially all my Latinos out there, to come out and march. Guys, we have a voice we have to use it. It’s just the only thing we can do. We all deserve rights. We all deserve to live. [in Spanish] Todos somos humanos. Todos merecemos mucho mejor. [Crowd] Whooo!
